Forever Lovely for Retro Rubber 128

This week at Retro Rubber, we have a colour challenge for you.

The challenge is to use red, white and pink in your card. Since this is retro rubber, we ask you to use a stamp that is at least a year old and tell us the approximate age of it.

The lovely graphic that Jane has chosen brings to mind a love theme, which you are free to use (or not). Clearly, I did! I made a set of six 3x3 note cards, perfect for adding to a lunchbox (or briefcase) or for use as gift tags. I made a lidded box to put them in.

I had the great privilege of presenting the Forever Lovely set at OnStage Auckland in November 2018, so I know that it is from the January 2019 Occasions catalogue and just fits into the 'at least a year old' category. However, the paper I used is straight from this year's January-June Mini Catalogue, From My Heart.

To add a little more sparkle, I've used Shimmery Black embossing powder because I like the subtle shine it gives. On the box top, I've added in a couple of clear epoxy heart embellishments that I've coloured with a Real Red dark Stampin' Blend.

The team would love to see what you do with this red, pink and white colour challenge. You can see what the rest of the team have done, and link up your entry, by visiting Retro Rubber Challenge.

CAS Colours and Sketches 328

It's been a while since I played at CAS Colours and Sketches but the beautiful colour combination this week forced me to find a snip of time for it. 😀

I used the Forever Lovely stamp set and matching dies, Lovely Flowers. This is such a delicately beautiful romance set. The star of it is the way the two-step floral spray has the option of adding a glorious fretwork die-cut overlay, which I've used here.

The spray and overlay are so gorgeous, they need little else. The overlay die also adds embossed curlicues and foliage as it cuts. Very clever and very pretty! I've added some tiny Petal Pink flowers, which are part of the die set. The sentiment, from Itty Bitty Greetings is popped up on dimensionals.

You can see what the two-step floral spray looks like, without the overlay, here on the envelope.

Just Add Ink 442

It's a public holiday in New Zealand today - Waitangi Day - so I've spent a bit of time in my craft room this afternoon. I took inspiration from the sketch at Just Add Ink.

It's been a while since I've had out Forever Lovely - not since I did an OnStage presentation with it -
but the sketch put me in mind of the lovely foliage pieces in the Forever Flowers dies that bundle with it.

I've gone for a full-on romantic feel by using touches of gold and the gloriously detailed Lace textured impressions embossing folder for a slightly vintage feel.

Here's a peek of the inside.

Forever Lovely - Onstage Auckland 4

When I presented the Forever Lovely bundle at On Stage Auckland last November, we were allowed to show a maximum of 10 items on the display board. Naturally, I did a lot more experimenting with the set than that! For my 10 cards, I chose ones that showed off the set's versatility and included cards that suited beginners, casual and avid crafters. You can see those cards here, here and here.

Today, I'm going to show you some of the ones that missed out hitting the display board at On Stage.

This one is a 4"x 4" card where I repeat-stamped the single rose, layered with gold and used some of the die cuts in gold and Soft Sea Foam for the cluster on the sentiment strip, which is also gold embossed.

The decorative corner die-cuts make a nice variation for the inside panel of the card too.

I like the clean lines of this card along with the layering of stamping and die cuts. With these beautiful distINKtive stamps, it's best not to use a really juicy ink pad or else you just get blobs. If your ink pad is new, try adding the ink with a dauber instead. Or you can even stamp off and use the second generation stamp.

This one is not my usual style at all but I so loved that two-step floral spray that I wanted to use it twice! The Soft Sea Foam makes a good neutral background. The two-step spray has had some die-cut flowers added in.

I'm not a big user of DSP but this floral frenzy pattern was so appealing that I had to try to use it!

Finally, I played around with this fancy fold. I used my Take Your Pick tool to make the inlaying of the die pieces easy.

This is how it looks opened.

So, these are the ones that stayed at home.

The Forever Lovely bundle will be available when the Occasions catalogue goes live on January 3 2019. This set covers all romantic occasions, is great for special birthdays or even Mother's Day. Is it on your wish list?
