Hello Stampers!
Claire's Spring Flowers Theme challenge last week really brought out everyone's creativity and we had such beautiful projects. I'm sure that Jaydee's colour challenge will likewise bring out everyone's creativity.
Jaydee's challenge to us was to create using any combination of pastel colours. I loved this challenge as I have a soft spot for Stampin' Up!'s Subtle collection of colours. In fact, when I first started stamping, it was the Subtles family that I first bought.
The softness of the colour put me in mind of butterflies and reflectiveness. So I started by die-cutting the large butterfly from the Beautiful Butterflies bundle and blending in Lemon Lolly, Balmy Blue and Fresh Freesia with blending brushes. The resultant mix created some areas of a most pleasing pale green as a bonus.
I mounted that to a larger solid butterfly die and also added in a smaller Lemon Lolly die cut butterfly. The thorax is decorated with some Fresh Freesia tinsel gems.
Well, now I had a butterfly and she needed a setting. So the rest of the card evolved! 😀
I embossed a piece of Basic White with the Beautiful Butterflies hybrid embossing folder that is part of the Beautiful Butterflies bundle. I chose a piece of mottled Fresh Freesia paper from the Beautiful Bokeh DSP stack, stamped the sentiment in Smoky Slate and flagged the end.
And just like that, the card was done!

Beautiful, Jan! The blended butterfly is gorgeous. I love how you stamped the sentiment directly on the banner. And you know me and texture - the embossed background is delightful. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteThe blended butterfly is gorgeous Jan and I love the embossed background too. I never noticed what lovely sentiments this stamp set had either until I had a good look at your card. So delicate and the pastels give your layered focal point an almost ethereal quality. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteJan, this is so beautiful! I love the butterfly embossed background. The blended butterfly is stunning! The sentiment is so lovely. Such a perfect card to make someone feel loved.
ReplyDeleteJan... your card reminds me that I need to do more butterflies! Love them on your card.
ReplyDeleteJan, this is gorgeous. I love anything repeated in threes - especially butterflies. I love that you used them for the embossed base and that fabulous large butterfly has so much texture. The addition of the little butterfly on top adds a touch of sunshine. The soft blending on the wings of the large butterfly adds a softness. Just fabulous. Thanks for rocking my challenge this week

Your ink blended butterfly turned out so, so beautiful, Jan and putting the yellow one on top adds the perfect little pop of color. Love the embossed butterfly background and the freesia paper you used for the tag, it has such a nice texture with the uneven color. Gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO pretty! That butterfly could steal the show, but I have to admit that the embossed background is pretty special too! Great way to use those pastels!
