Beautiful Moments for AYSI 274

I'm not sure about the rest of the world, but for New Zealanders this challenge at As You See It is perfectly timed as Mother's Day is this coming Sunday.

So many wonderful things about mothers - both your own mother and being a mother - that it's hard to know quite what to say. I think the best thing about mothers is that they are part of the tapestry of your life. They are there, sharing in all the moments great and small. The things that I look back on most fondly are those little moments: a walk on the beach finding shells, a story with a hug, picking mushrooms, word games in the car. So the sadly retiring Beautiful Moments set was the one I turned to.

I paper pieced the dresses for the mother and daughter from the 2021-22 Subtles DSP stack and also cut hexagons from them using the Beautiful Shapes dies. These lovely dies have not retired. 😀

I chose the also sadly retired Tasteful Textile embossing folder because of its evocation of warm blankets and cosy rugs, while the hexagons and soft colours brought a feeling of snuggly quilts.

What's the best thing about mothers for you? We'd love to see how you see it.

You can see what the rest of the team have done, and join up your entry, at the As You See It Challenge site.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. You can leave a message in the comments or contact me using any of the methods listed in the Contact Me tab at the top of the page. Because so many products have retired, I haven't done a product list for this project. However, you can still shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand by clicking on the SHOP NOW tab in the sidebar.

  1. This is so wonderful, Jan! I adore the paper piecing you did for this - one of my fave techniques, and this image really shows it off! Beautiful!

  2. This is such a lovely card depicting a mother's love! I like the paper piecing of the dresses, and the matching hexagons lending thoughts to hand-made quilts - all the things we associate with our dear moms. Very pretty creation!

  3. This is such a beautiful image to illustrate a mother's love and perfect for paper piecing too. Love the hexagon background detail - this is a great way to add interest without detracting from the main image, I must remember this one!
