Forever Fern for Instagram Tip

The Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team not only hop monthly (or more often) to showcase new products but we also take turns to make instagram tips for Stampin' Up!.

Today, I'm sharing the tip with you as I know that some of you don't use Instagram. I'm showing you a way to add depth to a card front without adding layers by applying a partial border with sponges.

Here's the finished project, using the Forever Fern stamp set.

Here's how to do it.

After stamping the card front, take a piece of card cut 1 cm smaller than the base and position it with the desired amount of border showing.

Sponge the area where you want the border to be. Take care to make sure the template doesn’t move as you sponge. I use post-it notes and hold it firmly while sponging. Make sure to blend the colours and let them fade out toward the outer edge. Of course, you can sponge in a complete border if you want.

Once you are happy with the intensity of colour and coverage, remove the template. Then you can complete the card and embellish as you like.

This very simple technique is a quick, easy way to add a twist to your projects. Give it a try - you'll be amazed how easy it is.
