This week at As You See It, it's speed challenge week. This is probably my favourite of our challenge roster because it's so out of the box. There are lots of theme, colour or sketch challenges but the speed challenge really does challenge my thinking: how to create something I like but in only ten minutes?
To help you get going, we have a theme of butterflies to go with the speed element.
As with most things, it's all in the planning. When we say you have ten minutes to make your card, that's ten minutes of actual doing, making, assembling. You are allowed to have thought about it for as long as you like. You can spend as long as you like setting up: putting out the right dies and folders, setting up your die cutting machine, getting out and blocking the right stamps, putting the right embellishments to hand. BUT.... once you take that first cut of card stock, or ink up that first stamp that clock starts ticking!
I went back to a set I haven't used in a while, but have always liked, Positive Thoughts and the coordinating dies. I just love the image of the maidenhair fern!
And here is the result of 9 minutes and 20 seconds of work....
When I'm doing a speed challenge, I usually have a couple of things that I plan to do only if I have the time. In this case, I got to do them both: put some Wink of Stella on the large butterfly's wings and add rhinestones. I'd have been 1 minute 20 seconds quicker without those.
And just saying.... the craftermath isn't part of the ten minute either. 😀
