Mountain Air for Retro Rubber 150

Welcome back to a new year with us at Retro Rubber Challenge. We kick of the year with a theme challenge, Winter Wonderland. Of course, for those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, it's the height of summer so maybe a cooling challenge is just what we need!

Because it doesn't really snow much where I live, I don't have a lot of snowy stamp sets but I do have the fabulous Mountain Air bundle from last year's January Holiday catalogue. This is what I've used because the icy mountain range is such a New Zealand image.

I white embossed the mountain range onto Shimmery White cardstock, then water-coloured the mountains in Smoky Slate and the sky in Seaside Spray. On a second piece of card, I stamped the tree and water stamp in Pretty Peacock and water-coloured over it, then die-cut it. After adhering it over the mountain range, I  used the Stitched Triangle dies to cut out the scene.

The white base is embossed with the Absolutely Argyll folder. The scene was reassembled and popped up on dimensionals on the base. A couple of retired Faceted Gems in Seaside Spray lead the eye to the sentiment.

You can see what the rest of the team have done with this challenge, and link up your entry, by visiting the Retro Rubber Challenge site. We'd love to see what you do and what stamps you have in your stash.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. You can leave a message in the comments or contact me using any of the methods listed in the Contact Me tab at the top of the page. You can shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand by clicking on the SHOP NOW button in the sidebar or clicking on any of products below.

Itty Bitty Birthdays for Retro Rubber 144

This week at Retro Rubber, we have an 'Anything Goes' challenge. Of course, since this is Retro Rubber it's not quite anything goes. You still have to use at least one stamp that's a year or more old AND give us an approximate age for it.

I've made a quick, easy card that is very dramatic because of the black background and brightly coloured die-cut.  However, the design could be made in any colour - maybe Petal Pink on Whisper White for a baby girl?

A couple of years ago, I held a card class where we coloured a white glimmer paper using Brusho and then cut the resulting coloured paper using the Butterfly Beauty dies. The results were spectacular but oh my, it was so, so much easier to just use the new Rainbow Glimmer Paper! Isn't it lovely, the way it moves from colour to colour?

While the Butterfly Beauty dies have been around for a couple of years, the Ornate Floral embossing folder is new as are the 2020-2022 In-Colour enamel dots.

The greeting is from Itty Bitty Birthdays, one of my favourite sentiment sets which came out in the Occasions catalogue, January 2019. The pretty little stitched banner is from Tasteful Labels.

Itty Bitty Birthday for Retro Rubber 139

This week at Retro Rubber Challenge, we have an embellishment challenge: use buttons on your card. As this is Retro Rubber, we still need you to get out your older stamps and ink them up for us. Use at least one stamp that's a year or more old and tell us the approximate age of it. Other than that, it's up to you!

When I saw this challenge, I thought about various cards I'd seen over the years made to look like men's shirts or jackets. I had a snoop around with Mr Internet and there are many, many versions to be seen.

I'd love say I was the brains behind this lovely card but credit goes to Australian demonstrator, Di Barnes at Colour Me Happy. Here's the link to her easy to follow tutorial. The only credit I can take is that I successfully followed her measurements and instructions while adding a couple of tweaks. It's a fun card to make and is actually very easy to do. In her version, she didn't use real buttons but since I'm a magpie, I had shirt buttons in my sewing box.

Itty Bitty Birthdays is the set I used for the front and the inside of the card and it first appeared in the Occasions catalogue in January 2019.

We'd love to have you join us in this challenge. Visit the Retro Rubber Challenge site and see what the rest of the team have done and to link up your entry. You can play along with us until July 24.

As You See It 196 - Design Team Card

Time for a new challenge at As You See It. This week, it's colour challenge week. Who doesn't like a Granny Smith apple? Maybe that's why I'm so in love with Granny Apple Green.

The colours seemed to say 'forest' to me, so that led to Rooted in Nature, my favourite set from the 2018 Annual Catalogue. I started with a piece of DSP from the Nature's Poem DSP. Beautiful, isn't it?

After fussy cutting the log, I added in some foliage in the two greens before adding in the greeting, using Stitched Label and Layering Circle framelits.

And I couldn't resist using my favourite sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings, 'Awesome at any Age'. This set is one of the highlights of the Occasions catalogue.

Pop over to As You See It Challenge and see what the rest of the team have done, then why not join in with us. You can link up until Wednesday 27 April, 11.55 p.m. PST.

I also used the sketch at Inspire. Create for inspiration.
