Cottage Rose for As You See It 296

Welcome to the latest challenge at As You See It. We're back to the first item in our rota of challenges: the sketch,

I enjoy a sketch challenge - they're just the thing for getting some ideas flowing when the mojo is low.

Sadly, the Cottage Rose bundle is retiring at the end of the month so I thought I'd give it another outing. The gorgeous rose stamp is such a go-to as a focal point. I've gone for a very literal interpretation of the sketch - and there's nothing wrong with that either. 😀

I started with the large rose stamp - of which I stamped two - and some foliage then I coloured them with Stampin' Blends. I die cut them out and also some extra foliage. I fussy cut the rose from the second of the large rose stamps I'd done. Then it was a matter of arranging them all into a pleasing composition.

The DSP was cut using one of the Deckled Rectangle dies. The embellishments are Iridescent Rhinestones. I love these  because they come in three sizes and they pick up colour from their surroundings.

Cottage Rose for The Paper Players 629

This month's classes are over so, after cleaning up, I decided to treat myself to a play time. For inspiration, I used the sketch at The Paper Players and got out another older favourite, Cottage Rose.

I liked the idea of a square card and started out with one idea that evolved into something else as I went along. Here's where it ended up.

I quite surprised myself, given that I seldom use patterned paper and then usually only in small quantities, that I settled on this paper from Abigail Rose as the background for the floral cluster. I'd been going to use it as a wide border for a white, textured square ... you just never know how things will turn out sometimes!

I did some therapeutic colouring of various images, chopped them up and then played with arranging them. The final touch was the addition of some Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels.

Cottage Rose for GDP378

I've played along with the latest sketch challenge at Global Design Project. I love sketch challenge - my favourite kind of challenge.

I've used a stencil to create the left hand vertical because I love that soft effect behind the flowers. The flowers are coloured with Stampin' Blends.

The card front is embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder. The main flower has been layered and popped up.

The final embellishments are Iridescent Pearls.
