Cottage Rose for GDP378

I've played along with the latest sketch challenge at Global Design Project. I love sketch challenge - my favourite kind of challenge.

I've used a stencil to create the left hand vertical because I love that soft effect behind the flowers. The flowers are coloured with Stampin' Blends.

The card front is embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder. The main flower has been layered and popped up.

The final embellishments are Iridescent Pearls.

Forever Fern for GDP 347

There's a theme challenge at Global Design Project this week and it's a favourite of mine: plants and leaves.

So many options! When I look at my stamp collection, it's pretty clear I love plants and leaves. One of my all-time favourites in this area is Forever Fern and the coordinating dies, Forever Flourishing.
I'll take any excuse to get them out!

I also love playing around with ink, so I ink smooshed Soft Sea Foam, Mint Macaron and Shaded Spruce onto Fluid100 Watercolour Paper with an acrylic block then die cut some leaves from Forever Flourishing.

I also cut some - possibly leaves, possibly flowers, possibly seedpods - from Gold Foil. Whatever they are, they're great textural elements. 😀

From these, I made a cluster arrangement as the focal point of the design.

This card was also my first chance to try out the Fern 3D Embossing folder from the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue. Products have been a very slow shipping in the South Pacific, but once you get them it's easy to forget the wait - especially when they are as gorgeous as this folder!

The sentiment is gold embossed and cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle dies. I've added some of the very lovely new Iridescent Rhinestones as suitably romantic embellishments too.

To add a little extra interest without detracting from the main event, I off-set the card front on the base and adding some Mint Macaron on Mint Macaron stamping over the base.

Update: Delighted to be a winner at Global Design Project this week.

Butterfly Brilliance for FMS and GDP

After cutting all the projects for next week's classes and tidying up the craft room, I gave myself some free crafting time. For inspiration, I turned to the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches and the summery colour combination at Global Design Project.

Since I've been playing around with the Butterfly Brilliance bundle this week, I kept with it. This lovely bundle is part of the 2021-22 Annual Catalogue, open for sales on 3 May. Of course, you may have already purchased it as part of the special pre-release offer and if you did, you'll know there's no regrets on getting this one!

Here's where it all ended up.

The butterfly was die-cut from Basic White and sponged, using the wonderful new blending brushes, with Magenta Madness and Bumblebee. The under-butterfly that the wings lift up from is cut from Coastal Cabana. I also used Coastal Cabana to lightly sponge the foliage, cut from the Meadow Dies. The Meadow dies, part of the Quiet Meadow bundle, will be available from 3 May.

To make the splatters in the sketch, I used one of the dies from the Brilliant Wings dies several times to make the holes in the card front that show off the Magenta Madness layer beneath.

The sentiment is from Timeless Tulips and the circle that grounds the cluster is embossed with the Painted Textures embossing folder.

Update: Delighted to be a Perfect Princess at FMS.
