Welcome to the latest challenge at As You See It. It's theme week and I had the pleasure of setting the theme. All you need to do is design us something that's in a vintage or shabby chic style.
I have to say that this was my choice of theme - and it seemed a good idea at the time! I'll admit that I did begin to question my sanity at making such a choice, with me being a clean and simple girl at heart, but once I got going I really enjoyed the switch in style.
The cup with flowers from Everyday Details seemed a vintage sort of image to me, especially in dusky colours. I stamped the image three times in Early Espresso and coloured with Stampin' Write markers in a mix of Crumb Cake, Moody Mauve, Pretty in Pink, Soft Sea Foam and Blackberry Bliss. I fussy cut them out then arranged them over a circle cut with Spotlight on Nature dies. I used the dotty stamp from Everyday Details to add some Soft Sea Foam to the background before gently sponging the edge with Crumb Cake ink.
I really enjoyed making the background panel! I randomly stamped the teacup image in stamped off Crumb Cake. I added in some random 'Enjoy Today' s from Beach Day. Then I embossed it with the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing folder. Then I took to the edges with the blades of a pair of scissors to distress the edge before sponging on some Crumb Cake ink, using a blending brush.
The underlayer of Moody Mauve got the same scissor treatment before being inked up with some Moody Mauve ink and then.... I screwed it up to give it a really distressed look! I felt slightly criminal in doing so! 😀. The sentiment is from Country Birdhouse.

Welcome to the latest hop with the Creativity Abounds team! We're a group of demonstrators from around the world who come together to share ideas and inspiration with you.
On the third Wednesday of the month (or Thursday if you are in the South Pacific), we hop to share some inspiration with you on a particular theme or set. This month, we're featuring Birthdays.
I've created one project to share with you today - and a second one as part of the Creativity AboundsTutorial Bundle for December. One of my favourite sets is Artistically Inked, especially when paired up with the coordinating Chic dies. I love the useful sentiments and pretty images. You'll see from my two projects that it offers an array of different looks too. The project I'm sharing with you today has a very vintage look, while you'll see from the sneak peek below that my tutorial bundle project is bright and clean.
For this card you will need:
Blackberry Bliss 21cm x 14.8cm, scored at 10.5cm (8 1/2" x 5 1/4", scored at 4 1/4")
Moody Mauve 10cm x 14.3cm (4" x 5 1/4")
Very Vanilla for card front 9.5cm x13.8cm (3 3/4" x 5")
Very Vanilla for sentiment 10cm x 2.5cm
Very Vanilla for stamping
Old Olive
Vellum
Moody Mauve for inside 10cm x 14.3cm (4" x 5 1/4")
Very Vanilla for inside 9.5 x 13.8cm (3 3/4" x 5")
Fold and burnish the Blackberry Bliss along the score line.
Adhere one of the pieces of Moody Mauve to the card front at an angle so that all four points touch the edge of the card base (or as near as possible).
Take the large leaf die from the Artistic dies and cut one from the Old Olive. Set aside.
Cut a 9cm circle (3 1/2" circle) from the vellum. Emboss with the Timeworn Type embossing folder (or one of your choice). Set aside.
Stamp one large flower blob in Blackberry Bliss on the Very Vanilla. Stamp 2 of the larger roses in Moody Mauve. Die cut and set aside.
Stamp the 'Happy Birthday' in Blackberry Bliss on the sentiment Very Vanilla. Die cut with label from Labels Aglow (or of your choice) and set aside.
You are now ready to create the background pattern for the card front. Take the piece of Very Vanilla for the card front.
Using the large ink blot stamp, stamp randomly all over the card front in Crumb Cake ink.
Take the rose shaped flower and stamp 3 or 4 times randomly over the card front in Blackberry Bliss. Don't stamp them too close together as you need room for the leaves.
Take the double leaf stamp and using Old Olive ink, stamp in some leaves. Make sure some of them go off the edge of the page.
Add in some of the small rose shaped stamp in Moody Mauve to fill gaps and add colour to the edges.
Take a blending brush and add a light wash of Crumb Cake around the edge to give a vignette effect
Adhere this panel to the card front taking care to keep it square with the edges of the card.
Adhere the embossed vellum circle to the lower left side of the card front.
Arrange the three stamped flowers, with the largest Blackberry Bliss one on partly on top of,and between, the two Moody Mauve flowers. When you are satisfied with their placement, attach with dimensionals. The large flower, as it overlaps the two smaller ones, will not need as many dimensionals as the overlap can be adhered with tape or glue instead. It may need support in the gap between flowers however, depending on how you've arranged them.
Take the die cut spray of leaves and cut them into pairs and singles. Tuck them in around the flowers. You can attach them with glue, tape or glue dots. If there is a dimensional in the way, you can cut the unseen part of the leaf off to let it fit in.
Adhere the sentiment to the cluster. It will be glued in the centre where it is over the raised flowers. It might need a dimensional at the ends if there is a big overhang.
Add three Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels (or other embellishments of choice)
Stamp the inside white piece as desired, mat to the second piece of Moody Mauve and adhere to the inside of the card.

I went 'over the top' on this vintage style Christmas card, made using the Magical Meadow bundle.
I threw a lot of different things at this OTT creation: there's texture embossing, sponging, splattering, gilding, die cuts, specialty paper, heat embossing... the whole kit and caboodle.

I'm excited for the new challenge at Colour Inkspiration for a couple of reasons. The first is that it's just another very cool and exciting set of colours with lots of possibilities. Secondly, I'm just back from a fabulous trip to Samoa. It was a great holiday but you know, you can't take your craft room with you! So it was good to come back to a challenge to get stuck into.

Isn't it a wonderful set of colours to play with? While I was away, a box of new Stampin' Up things arrived at my door - so not only did I have a challenge to work on but lots of lovely new things to try out! The set I most wanted out of all the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue was Very Versailles. It's a vintage style set that lends itself to a collage style of card as well. I'm sharing with you its first outing!
I'm very happy with how it turned out. The set is distINKtive in style, so the stamps have the most beautiful lithographic quality. The foliage stamp is already a favourite. 😀
The script font is amazing. I just wanted to stamp it over and over again. It paired up nicely with the new Scripty embossing folder too.
There's a bit of fussy cutting here too. I gold embossed the decorative fleur-de-lys strip and fussy cut it. The ornate frame was also fussy cut to give more focus to the sentiment.
The background is embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. To add to the vintage look, I've sponged the edges of the white areas with Blushing Bride. Finally, a few pearls to add to the opulence of Versailles.

It's such a rich combination that I started to think I'd like to make something with a vintage feel. I started with the new Crackle Paint background stamp and lightly sponged the edges before stamping on the beautiful bouquet from Very Vintage. This set is a hostess set, so is available to party hostesses or individual customers where sales are over $350.I coloured the images with ink, a blender pen and some clear Wink of Stella.
The pretty little lacy edge is from the new Doily Builder thinlits. The pearls have been coloured with a Petal Pink Stampin' Blend.

Vintage is a style I don't often do but I recently purchased Stampin' Up's new hostess set, Very Vintage. I been giving it a run in the last couple of days and used the inspiration at The Flower Challenge for this simple vintage card.
I'm usually a little more technique-driven in my card making but sometimes all a really pretty stamp needs is a setting. I used a panel from the Delightfully Detailed specialty paper for the frame and underlaid it with a piece of Rich Razzleberry. Cutting out a central oval allowed the colour to show through the dots while letting the stamp have centre stage. I used a large oval framelit that I had in my stash for this as the current layering ovals are too small for this aperture.
This stamp is just so pretty, with its etching-like look! It colours up well too. So, a sweet and simple vintage style card QED!
