Magnolia Mood for JAI 702

In keeping with my resolution to get back to doing craft things just for fun, I decided to join in with the challenge at Just Add Ink. It's been far too long since I played there.

I was having a bit of a play around with Magnolia Mood and wanted to use parts of the set that were not the absolutely stunning large magnolia image. The sketch was perfect in that it was asking for smaller imagery.

It's really a simple card. I stamped three of the bud images in Basic Gray, coloured them with Pretty in Pink and Old Olive Stampin' Blends then die cut them.

The circles were cut using the Spotlight on Nature dies, and the two with cut outs I backed with Old Olive circles cut with Stylish Shapes dies.

The sentiment is from Country Birdhouse and cut with banners from Stylish Shapes.
The background is embossed with my favourite folder, Distressed Tile 3D.

Update: Delighted to get an Honourable Mention at Just Add Ink.

Plentiful Plants for JAI 616

I had some spare time today and used it to play along with Just Add Ink's sketch challenge.

I had Plentiful Plants out on the desk, put there to remind myself to use it more since it's such a lovely set. My eyes strayed over to the inks and lit upon the 2022-2024 In Colours. Then this card happened. 😀

The sentiment is from Romantic Ranunculus, which I like because it's both friendly and works for many occasions.

The popped-up circle is cut using the largest circle in Beautiful Shapes. It's a lovely subtle edging, isn't it?

I finished off with some Brushed Brass Butterflies, nestling in the pot.

Quiet Meadow for JAI 552

While indulging myself with some free craft time after completing the cutting of next week's class kits, and completing a card for another challenge, I rolled with the flow and turned to Just Add Ink for further inspiration.

When I looked at the image, I saw one of the new In-Colours, Pale Papaya, and ran with that along with a touch of Bumblebee. I've also included two of the other new In-Colours, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. I reached for what is fast becoming a new go-to set for me: the Quiet Meadow bundle, which is available from 3 May.

As the photo had strong vertical lines, I used a strip of Pale Papaya DSP along the edge. I used the 2021-23 In-Colour Stampin' Write markers, and Bumblebee from the 2020-22 collection,  to colour the floral image from Quiet Meadow and stamped that. I added some extra tiny flowers in Bumblebee and Pale Papaya, as well as the script stamp, then some splatters in Soft Succulent.

The other part of the bundle is the Meadow dies and they are the most amazing floral dies, rather like large silhouettes. I've cut two cornflowers and the fern foliage and sponged them in Bumblebee, Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent and arranged them over the stamped imagery.

The sentiment, and sentiment label, are also from the same bundle. To finish, I've added in three of the new In-Colour gems, these ones in Evening Evergreen.

All of these products: DSP, stamps, dies and inks, and embellishments will be available from 3 May. Soar Confidently for JAI 546

Just Add Ink's Steampunk challenge came at just the right time for me having just received, and started playing with, Soar Confidently.

I started with a piece of DSP from World of Good and added in some images from Very Versailles (more script), Beautiful World (compasses) and Soar Confidently (the dirigible) all in Crumb Cake. The edges were sponged in Early Espresso.

The vintage balloon and dirigible were stamped in Early Espresso, then I used a Blender pen to spread the ink and Early Espresso to sponge the edges after fussy cutting them.

The cogs are from the Garage Gears dies, cut in Brass Foil and distressed with both Black and Saddle Brown Stazon.

The sentiment is from Soar Confidently and cut with one of the Tasteful Labels dies, then distressed with Crumb Cake.

Forever Blossoms for FMS424 JAI494

This afternoon, I played around at my craft table with a set that I've had for a while but had unfortunately not inked up. I wanted Forever Blossoms from the moment I saw it in the catalogue so it was great to finally use it. I started with the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

As I was working, the colour scheme seemed familiar. It turned out that I'd subconsciously taken on board the colour challenge at Just Add Ink.

I started by sponging a column of Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam and then stamping on the leaves in Smoky Slate. I coloured most of the leaves with Stampin' Blends. The blossoms were stamped, die cut and coloured with Stampin' Blends also.

Finally, I stamped in part of a longer sentiment and added in some of the gorgeous new Champagne Rhinestones from the January-June Mini Catalogue.
