Itty Bitty Christmas for Retro Rubber 149

Welcome to our final challenge for 2020!

This time round, we're giving you a challenge that will let you get out your older Christmas stamps and show them some love. All you have to do is let the picture inspire you in some way, use at least one stamp that's a year or more old AND give us an indication of how old that stamp is. We also ask you not to enter the challenge more than three times.

This pretty Christmas graphic gives you plenty to work with in the inspiration department. I went for the colours, which are classic Christmas: red, green, white, gold. I took the gold from the flames of the candles. I also used the red stitched star and the snow.

Itty Bitty Christmas is one of my favourite Christmas sets because it's all small scale Christmas sentiments that are endlessly useful on cards and tags. It first appeared in the Holiday catalogue of 2019 and is still available. When it first appeared, it bundled with the Christmas Layers dies, which I've used here with gold foil to create the swirly star layer. This die set is also currently available, although the two are no longer offered as a bundle.

The greenery is cut with the very handy Sprig punch. It, and the Stitched Stars dies are both still current products but first appeared in last year's Holiday catalogue.

One of the creative pleasures is to combine old and new, so there are some new items here too: the Gilded Gem embellishments, the gold twine and the Winter Snow embossing folder.

You can see what the rest of the team have done with this challenge, and link up your entry, by visiting the Retro Rubber Challenge site. We'd love to see what you do and what stamps you have in your stash.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. You can leave a message in the comments or contact me using any of the methods listed in the Contact Me tab at the top of the page. You can shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand by clicking on the SHOP NOW button in the sidebar or clicking on any of products below.

Itty Bitty Christmas for AYSI 235

Our regular  rotation of challenges continues at As You See It and that make this week 'THEME' week.

The theme this week is 'Sewing or Stitching' which gives lots of scope for you to come up with something interesting.

While I'm a patchworker, quilter and embroiderer, stamps that champion those activities have, strangely, never much appealed to me so there are none in my stash. What I do like though, are dies that have stitched details. Those, I have a BIG stash of.

In this card, I've used an old favourite, Stitched Rectangles for the white panel and the sentiment. I've used my latest acquisition, Stitched Triangles, for the tree forms.

As I was blogging this card, I realised that if I'd used a folder other than Winter Snow for the background, this would have been a great card for a hot Southern Hemisphere Christmas. Next time! 😀

Having said that, the Winter Snow folder is marvellous and the light sponging in Pacific Point really shows off the gorgeous pattern, so I don't really regret using it.

Perhaps the real star of the show is a product I'd initially overlooked in the 2020 Annual Catalogue and that's the Rainbow Glimmer Paper. I only cut from the blue/green section to make the triangles look like trees. I was keen to do so after seeing some of the wonderful Christmas projects my fellow NZ Demonstrator and former Artisan Design Team member, Angela Meritz-Reid (aka Stamping Beauty) had made.

The sentiment is from my favourite Christmas sentiment set, Itty Bitty Christmas.

You can visit the As You See It Challenge site to see what the rest of the team have done and to link up your entry.

TGIF 243

The challenge at TGIF this week is to use your favourites from the Holiday Catalogue.

I loved many things in the nearly-concluded Holiday Catalogue but my two favourites were the Christmas Gleaming bundle and Itty Bitty Christmas.

Family Christmas dinner this year is at my sister-in-law's place and she asked me to make some table favours. I turned to Christmas Gleaming and the gorgeous Stampin' Up! pillow boxes.

The copper-accented Brightly Gleaming specialty DSP is so pretty, it needs little else. Just an embossed bauble, a stamped bauble and a greeting and - voila - done! The pillow box, available in packs of ten, make life easy!

The pillow boxes are available still from the Annual Catalogue. Happily, the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set will carry over and the Christmas Gleaming stamps and Brightly Gleaming DSP will be seen again next Christmas.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. So Many Stars for Paper Players 469

I love a sketch challenge and the latest one at The Paper Players is just my kind of thing. I just HAD to play it. Usually, the stubborn part in me kicks in and refuses to let me play with the shape that's been used in the sketch but this time around, it matched in with an idea I'd been toying with in my head for a few days.

I wanted to make a classic Christmas card in white and gold that used So Many Stars and this sketch gave me the impetus to do it. Here's the result.

I chose the Swirls and Curls embossing folder because it reminds me a bit of Van Gogh's Starry Night sky. For the gold foil mat and accent strip, I used the Subtle embossing folder to create a kind of faux ribbon strip but that folder also helps the foil reflect the light.

Update: Delighted to be chosen Headliner at The Paper Players!
