Retro Rubber Challenge 98 - Design Team Card

This week at Retro Rubber Challenge, we have an inspiration challenge for you. Have a look at this photo and make us a new project that is inspired by something in this picture. It could be the colours, the objects, the textures, the theme. Whatever you see. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that since this is Retro Rubber, you need to use at least one stamp that's older than a year and tell us the approximate age of it.

When I had a good look at the inspiration picture, the background looked like it had been made with Brusho. Since I'd been playing with Brusho today, I took that as a sign and made myself a brusho-ed piece of water-colour paper using gamboge, brilliant red, yellow and mossy green, which picked up many of the colours in the picture. I also saw that there were some autumn leaves in the picture. So here's where I ended up.

I die cut the leaves from the Brusho-ed paper. The dies are from Seasonal Layers, the coordinating set for Colourful Seasons. I usually poke out all the bits from the leaf die but on this occasion, I decided to leave some bits in, leaving more as I moved down the page to suggest that some leaves were more dead that the others. That's also why the colours move from green-ish to red as we move down towards the sentiment.

In behind, I've used the tattered lace from Touches of Texture (2016-17 Annual Catalogue) to add some interest. The sentiment is from Floral Phrases (2016-17 Annual Catalogue).

You've got until 2 November to join up at Retro Rubber Challenge and show us what you saw in the inspiration photo. Remember - you need to use at least one stamp older than a year AND give us an approximate age for it (them).

Just Add Ink 431

This week, the team at Just Add Ink have this great sketch for us.
It seemed to be begging for a great die cut for the main element. The most fabulous die cut I have is the Detailed Dragonfly set, so that was the starting point.

Cut in Sparkle glimmer paper and under-layered in black, it seemed so glamorous and elegant that a congratulations card built up around it.

I used some of the marvellous Chicken Wire element and some silver embossing to add to the elegant feel. The black panel and the white strip have been embossed with the Subtle textured embossing folder.

The Paper Players 392 - Design Team Card

Welcome to a new challenge at The Paper Players. This week, it's a theme challenge from Nance and she's chosen....

Tea party. You wouldn't think that would be a problem, would you? But somehow, I'd managed to never buy a tea or coffee themed stamp and I'd given away my only tea party DSP. Then, while browsing around Spotlight in an attempt to find something tea-partyish,  I found a piece of American Craft scrapbooking paper. It had, among many images, this lovely tea cup. My mind went into Stampin' Up overdrive and I began translating it into SU colours. This is where that train of thought ended up...

I turned to Floral Phrases. While the stamp is still current, the DSP and washi tape are now retired but naturally, I still have a stash of them. The image worked well, surrounded by SU colours and devices.

I used my Stampin' Blends to colour some rhinestones Night of Navy to add them in to this card. I'm always kind of amazed when the colour stays on!

Pop over and see what the rest of the team have done with Nance's theme challenge at The Paper Players

Pals Paper Arts 305

Another lovely colour challenge this week, this time at Pals Paper Arts.

I'm enjoying the school holidays: no work = more time in my craft room! By chance - although a well-planned chance - a big box of Stampin' Up goodies arrived on the first day of the holidays. In amongst it, was Floral Phrases and the matching Detailed Floral thinlits. And actually, also included in the box was Sunshine Sayings and its matching thinlits, Sunshine Wishes - among a few other things, yet to be inked...

What you're meant to be seeing here is the Wink of Stella on the 'love' although I'm not convinced it's visible. What you can see clearly is the Island Indigo layer, slightly offset, creating a shadow effect.

Ingredients
Card: Island Indigo, Sahara Sand, Sweet Sugarplum
Stamps: Sunshine Sayings
Inks: Island Indigo
Other: Detailed Floral thinlits, Sunshine Wishes thinlits,  Wink of Stella.
