Ranunculus Romance for Colour INKspiration 139

What a lovely palette we have for you for Challenge 139! This modern and sophisticated colour combo was chosen for us by Crew Member, and Artisan Design Team member, Vicki Boucher.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. We welcome Gail Ellis as our Guest Designer for this challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest, for example Polished Pink for Melon Mambo. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

Having started out by saying that this was a modern feeling combination, I've actually gone a little way down the path of vintage by using Ranunculus Romance as my set. I've also added ribbon, another vintage touch and one that normally is out of my zone!

I know that vintage and clean are not usually companions but I have kept the design relatively clean by keeping white space and  avoiding distressing any form of distressing.

In another nod to vintage though, I did choose Iridescent Pearls as my final embellishment. 😀

We'd love to have you join in the challenge with us. Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!

Sea Turtle Video Tutorial

One of my surprises in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalogue is how much I've enjoyed using the Sea Turtle set. There are no sentiments, just a collection of marine images, including two differently sized sea turtles. Yet you can combine these images in so many different ways, especially as the set is a reversible one.

You can see more about this set, and order it if you wish, at my online store.

I'm sharing with you this tutorial for a masked and stamped marine scene that I've used in my classes this month. I hope you enjoy it and that it inspires you to try something similar - or even exactly the same!

Greatest Journey for Freshly Made Sketches 575

I was inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches to make these simple cards using the gorgeous Enjoy the Journey DSP.

Of course, I'd gone to my desk with quite a different idea in my head but when I saw the paper sitting there I was reminded how well the reverse sides of the same page work so well together.

So I started with a single strip of the paper and also cut two circles using the Stylish Shapes circular die.

The jogger is one of the dies from Greatest Journey. Here is the close-up, you can see that I've stamped in some grass and flowers from the set to ground the runner,

The sentiment and its label are from Something Fancy. I added in three Black Matte Dots to finish it all off.

Cottage Rose for The Paper Players 629

This month's classes are over so, after cleaning up, I decided to treat myself to a play time. For inspiration, I used the sketch at The Paper Players and got out another older favourite, Cottage Rose.

I liked the idea of a square card and started out with one idea that evolved into something else as I went along. Here's where it ended up.

I quite surprised myself, given that I seldom use patterned paper and then usually only in small quantities, that I settled on this paper from Abigail Rose as the background for the floral cluster. I'd been going to use it as a wide border for a white, textured square ... you just never know how things will turn out sometimes!

I did some therapeutic colouring of various images, chopped them up and then played with arranging them. The final touch was the addition of some Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels.

Plentiful Plants for CCS505

I had a little time on (yet another) rainy afternoon, so played along with the sketch at CAS Colours and Sketches. I was amazed to see they're at challenge 505 - its seems only yesterday when I played along in their 100th challenge!

I was feeling some nostalgia for my favourite older sets so got out Plentiful Plants for this one.

I kept things very clean by partially embossing the Basic White layer with the Gingham embossing folder.

The sentiment is from Inspired Thoughts. After stamping, die-cutting and arranging my potplant, I decided it looked a bit lost on the background so added in a sliver of Cajun Craze to act as a table to ground it. The shape of it also echoes and balances the sentiment.

Finally, I added in three copper Brushed Metallic dots.
