Cottage Rose for Around the World on Wednesday

Thank you for joining in with the latest hop from the crew at Around the World on Wednesday. If you haven't hopped with us before, we're a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from every time zone in the world where Stampin' Up! operates. You're here with me, in New Zealand.

Each month we present a different theme to inspire you to create.
This month, we're using a sketch for inspiration.

I like a sketch challenge so was looking forward to this one. As it happened, the Cottage Rose bundle arrived on my doorstep just as I was thinking about what to do. I'd been trying to talk myself out of buying it, ever since I saw it. Now that I've caved in and bought it, what I've learned is to listen to my heart when it comes to buying sets! It is just beautiful to work with!

I used strip of Basic White embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder for the background horizontals. The Abigail Rose DSP had plenty to choose from for the circles - such lovely soft colours.

You'll have noticed in the close-up that this card has sprouted a 90 in the top left. That's because as I was making it, I decided that I liked it enough to give it to my very special mother-in-law for her 90th birthday. It's cut from Gold Foil, embossed with Timeworn Type, using the Big Number Framelits. These are a retired item but these, like the Big Letter Framelits are indispensable items in the scrapbooking room.

Next up on the hop is the lovely Leonie Stuart from Australia. Pop on over and see what she's done with the sketch.

Soft Seedlings for CI 131

Welcome to a new challenge at Colour INKspiration! This lovely palette was chosen for us by Crew Member Bronwyn Eastley.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. We welcome Fiona Rosario as our Guest Designer for this challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest, for example Sahara Sand for Crumb Cake. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

With these colours, it was hard to go past autumnal for this project. This in turn lead me to a favourite set from the July-December Mini Catalogue - Soft Seedlings.

I used Cherry Cobbler, Sweet Sorbet and Early Espresso ink directly onto a Crumb Cake base and used a Sponge Dauber to give colour variation within some images.

I stamped one large leaf in Early Espresso and another in a mix of Cherry Cobbler and Sweet Sorbet, plus a seedling in Sweet Sorbet. I fussy cut them and then clear embossed them. The embossing bought a depth of colour to them, as well as a shine. There was a touch of glitter hiding out in the Clear Embossing powder from look of the photo - not a bad thing at all, in my mind! I added in some of the Sweet Sorbet Metallic 1/4" ribbon, teased out, to the cluster.

The sentiment is from the Soft Seedlings set and I cut it out using one of the Beautiful Shapes dies. The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals and finished off with three of the Brushed Metallic Dots in copper.

You can see how I made it, and follow along, in this video tutorial.

We'd love to have you join in the challenge with us. Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!

Artistically Inked for AYSI 285

Welcome to the latest challenge at As You See It. As always, our sketch challenge is followed by a colour challenge and it's a dark and moody set of colours we have for you.

The swirls of coloured smoke made me think of the swirly stamps in Artistically Inked, so I started with those then overlaid the floral die cut from the Artistic dies.

I used the metallic Starry Sky ribbon behind the sentiment but teased it out first so it looked more like netting,

I added in three Iridescent Rhinestone Jewels to finish off. I like the way they reflect colour and pick up the colours around them.

Don't forget to visit the As You See It Challenge page to see what the rest of the design team have done and to link up your entry. As always, the winner of this colour challenge will be invited to Guest Design with us for our next recipe challenge. You can join in with us until Wednesday 19 October, 11.59pm PST.
