As You See It 185 - Design Team Card

This week at As You See It, Amanda has given us a gorgeous colour challenge. Isn't it a pretty colour combo?

With Stampin' Up's big colour re-vamp this year, I did part with quite a few of the retired colours. Dapper Denim wasn't one of them, so I dug it out and sponged it, along with Bermuda Bay and Lemon Lime Twist, onto a piece of watercolour paper. Then there was a flurry of spritzing, stencilling and stamping until I was happy with the look of it.

Sunshine Sayings is a great set especially when paired with the matching dies, Sunshine Wishes. Together, they give you any number of salutations and wishes for most occasions. The 'love' I die cut from the background paper before the stencilling and stamping happened and it's layered up on two Dapper Denims cuts. Doesn't the Stitched Shape framelit add some pizzazz to the simple white circle?

Dapper Denim is a retired colour but you could recreate this look easily by substituting Night of Navy.

As You See It 180 - Design Team Card

This week at As You See It Challenge, we have sketch for you to play with. It was quite strange for me to sit down to make this card, as I've been away on holiday for most of the last month so had all my Design Team cards made well in advance and scheduled to come live on the appropriate day. The pressure was really on for me today to get a fresh one done!

When I saw this sketch, I kept seeing the strong vertical as a tree or flower - I know, call me crazy. From that idea, the rest of the card grew. I sponged some water colour paper in Old Olive and Blushing Bride, cut the flower, added in some extra colour and some Berry Burst then stacked it up on some Blushing Bride.

I've been enjoying getting to know my Stamparatus so used it to repeat stamp the 'So happy for you' in the centre panel.

Sunshine Sayings and the matching Sunshine Wishes dies are so versatile and so pretty that they do all the work for you! The label shaped dies are now retired.

Retro Rubber Challenge 89 - Design Team Card

I'm excited by this week's challenge at Retro Rubber because it's my challenge. It's only the second time I've set the challenge so I had a great time working out a tic-tac-toe for us all to play with. As always with Retro Rubber, the rules are pretty simple: make sure that you use at least one stamp that is older than a year, give us an approximate age of the stamp and don't link up to ten or more challenges.

I was in a celebratory mode when I made up this challenge and so there's lots of opportunities for you to get out your wedding, anniversary, baby, congratulations, big birthday stamps and bling and go to town.

I played the diagonal: easel card, patterned paper, metallics. 

The patterned paper is the retired Falling in Love from Occasions 2017. The lace doilies were part of the same suite and have also retired. The sentiment on the bottom of the easel is from the associated set, Falling for You.

The front of the easel uses Sunshine Sayings and the coordinating dies, Sunshine Wishes. These two lovely items first appeared in the 2016 Annual Catalogue and I'm so glad to see that they've continued in the 2018 Catalogue.

Retro Rubber - Design Team Card

Romance is in the air at Retro Rubber Challenge this week, or at least it was for me. It's always good to have an engagement/wedding/anniversary card in the stash. This week's challenge will let you do that AND give some love to some of your old stamps.

At Retro Rubber Challenge, the rules are simple: Use a stamp that's at least a year old, tell us the approximate age of it (or them) and don't link up to more than ten challenges in total.

Use this lovely graphic to inspire you: colours, theme, patterns, shapes.... whatever you see in it that gets you wanting to create.

This card uses two older stamps. Firstly, the Brushstrokes background stamp (2015-16 Annual Catalogue) and then the very versatile Sunshine Sayings (2016-17 Annual Catalogue). Both stamp sets, along with the gorgeous Sunshine Wishes thinlits, are still current.

I chose one of the latest in-colours, Powder Pink, along with gold for this card since the inspiration photo was so pink and gold. I chose Very Vanilla as the base.

The 'love' is stacked to give it dimension and I've sponged it at the top with Powder Pink and moved through to Flirty Flamingo at the bottom. Black was too harsh for these colours, so I've used Early Espresso for the rest of the sentiment.
