Layers of Beauty for The Paper Players 723

Goodness, The Paper Players had some wonderful entries last week for Joanne's sketch challenge. I'm interested to see what everyone does with Ann's theme challenge this week. Love is in the air - what will it be? Friendship? Engagement? Wedding? Anniversary? No reason except you're wonderful?

For me, it was Anniversary as our wedding anniversary is in just a few days time.

I do love the Layers of Beauty bundle as there's just something so relaxing about the way the five layers of stencils come together in such a satisfying manner.

For the flowers, I used three inks: Fresh Freesia, Petunia Pop and Berry Burst and for the leaves, I used Granny Apple Green for both leaf layers.

It's such a simple card to make: stamp the outline in Tuxedo Black, sponge in the colours through the stencils with Blending Brushes and die cut out.

To add in a little bit extra, I stamped and coloured the flower bouquet image twice. I fussy cut the large centre flower and the bottom rose, then dimensionaled them in place to give a better sense of depth.

I added the die cut bouquet to the card front with dimensionals for further lift. The card front was embossed using the Forever Plaid 3D folder.

The card base is Petunia Pop. The I masked the sentiment so I could stamp each word separately, then cut them into banners. To finish, I added three Purple Shimmer Gems.

The team and I would love to see what you do with Ann's challenge. You can see what the rest of the design team have done, and link up your entry, at The Paper Players page.

Layers of Beauty for CAS Colours & Sketches 552

In keeping with my New Year crafting resolution to play more challenges for fun, I'm joining in with an old favourite challenge of mine, CAS Colours & Sketches. This time round, it's a sketch.

I'd been playing around with the Layers of Beauty bundle for something else and it seemed a perfect choice for this sketch. The bundle is a special one because in addition to stamps and dies (the usual bundle) this one includes five layering stencils that can be used to colour the images.

This card is very straightforward. I stamped part of the large roses image in one corner with Tuxedo Black ink and added the sentiment.

Using blending brushes, I coloured the flowers in Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight and Peach Pie. The leaves are two layers of Granny Apple Green.

The thing that took the longest time was deciding whether to add embellishments or not! After lots of vacillation I went with some of the green sequins from the Shiny Sequins pack.

Update: Delighted to be a Fabulous Favourite at CAS Colours and Sketches this week.

Layers of Beauty for Paper Players 711

Doesn't time fly? It's already time for a new challenge at The Paper Players. Thanks to everyone who played along last week with my 'Love is in the Air' challenge. It was a delight to visit all the entries and something of a torment to have to choose only one winner from all the lovely creations! 😀

This week, our hostess is Joanne and she's choses an autumnal palette for our colour challenge: Shades of orange and brown.

As much as I love autumn colours, I promised myself that I'd stay away from autumn leaves - just because looking out my window, I'm surrounded by the bright greens of new spring growth!

So that did leave me in something of a dilemma about where to take these colours. I thought that the richness of them was for a special occasion or a special person. Maybe I just still had a romantic hangover from last week's theme challenge but I went with what I'm thinking of as an anniversary card.

As to my colours, I stuck with all the pies: Peach Pie, Pumpkin Pie and Pecan Pie with a cup of coffee - some Early Espresso! Actually, I did do the small flower centres in Crushed Curry - an orange/yellow colour - but it hardly shows! 😂

The Layers of Beauty stamp/die/stencil bundle was my starting point. I stamped the image in Early Espresso then used the five easy-to-layer stencils, with Blending Brushes, to colour. Then I partially die cut the image to create a bottom section of card front.

I embossed a whole card front using the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder and layered the partial die cut section over the top.

The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso. Layered beneath it are three die cut pieces of foliage, cut from Basic White and sponged, using a Blending Brush,  with Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Pie to softly colour them to match the flowers. The finishing touches were a trio of Shimmer Gems in Peach Pie around the sentiment.

We look forward to seeing your creations in shades of orange and brown. You can see what the rest of the design team have done, and link up your entry, at The Paper Players page.

Layers of Beauty for Stampin' Fancy Friday

This month, the theme at Stampin' Fancy Friday is 'Celebration'. The challenge was to create something for a celebration. What sort of celebration was up to us: birthday, wedding, baby - anything.

We don't blog hop as such but the team at Stampin' Fancy Friday do a daily inspiration post on Instagram. The team at Stampin' Fancy Friday are all current or past members of Stampin' Up!'s Artisan Design Team, so it really is a great place to pick up ideas or recharge your creative mojo. Follow @stampinfancyfriday if you don't already. 😀

I turned to the Layers of Beauty bundle: stamps, dies and decorative masks because flowers are for everything! I made mine a birthday by adding a sentiment from Country Birdhouse but really, change the sentiment and the design (and bundle) still work. 😀

I stamped the large image, coloured it using the Decorative Masks, then cut it using one of the large circles from Spotlight on Nature. I stamped and cut an extra set so I could cut out the large rose and layer it to add depth. For the roses, I used Pretty in Pink, Flirty Flamingo and Melon Mambo. For the leaves, Lemon-Lime Twist and Granny Apple Green.

I used Lemon-Lime Twist for the accent circle, Melon Mambo to accent the gold embossed sentiment and the Painted Texture embossing folder for the background panel. The sentiment uses the banner die from Stylish Shapes.

The embellishments are some of the Tinsel Gems Four Pack.

I really love how this card turned out and have already posted it away to a friend. I hope she'll like it as much!

Layers of Beauty for Colour INKspiration 168

Welcome to the 168th challenge at Colour INKspiration. We have a colourful combination for you this time around, chosen by crew member Bernie Roodt.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. We're delighted to welcome Sharon Dalton as our Guest for this challenge.

This challenge is open for nearly two weeks and closes Monday July 8, 7pm AEST.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest, for example Crushed Curry for Daffodil Delight. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Basic Beige and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

These colours told me they were a floral mix, so I got out the Layers of Beauty bundle. After stamping the floral spray in Tuxedo Black ink, I used the five layer stencil set to colour it: First layer in Real Red, second in Cajun Craze, part of the third in Daffodil Delight and layers four and five in Lost Lagoon.

After masking the flowers off, I lightly splattered some diluted Lost Lagoon and some Wink of Stella to give a raindrop effect in the background. I like the subtle interest it adds.

I mounted the panel on a mat of Gold Foil before attaching it to a Real Red card base. The sentiment, from Cheerful Daisies, is gold embossed and cut using one of the labels from Unbounded Love die set.

The embellishments, that have a Lost Lagoon tinge to them, are from the Adhesive Backed Pearl Trio.

I'm excited to see what you do with these pretty colours!

You can see what the rest of the Design Team have done with these colours in the Crew Inspiration Album on the Colour INKspiration Challenge Facebook page.

Layers of Beauty for CAS CCS 536

I thought it was a bit of a tough challenge at CAS Colours and Sketches this week.

However, since I kept thinking about the combination I decided to have a go and see what happened.
Since I quite liked the result, I'm sharing it after all. 😀

I had my new Layers of Beauty stamps, along with the coordinating Layers of Beauty masks on my desk from their first play out of the box yesterday. I had a different idea in my head but somehow I couldn't go past using them again.

I used Pool Party and Lost Lagoon for the flowers, then soft Pebbled Path and a second layer of the same for the leaves.

The sentiment, stamped in Pebbled Path, is from the new Unbounded Love stamp set.

Update: Delighted to be named as a Fabulous Favourite at CAS Colours & Sketches.
