In Good Taste for AYSI 238

Welcome to a new challenge at As You See It. This week, it's Week 2 of the roster so that makes it a Colour Challenge. This colour challenge was my pick and I chose it so long ago that the wonderful Mountain Air bundle wasn't even around - or if it was, it wasn't on my radar.

Although I think that would be a great set to pick, and was the one I intended to use when I sat down at my desk, things turned out rather differently!

I've used an eclectic mix of sets for this one but still like how it turned out. The Petal Pink feathers, sponged at the tips with Flirty Flamingo, are dies from Nature's Thoughts. The tattered lace and foliage stamped behind are from Tasteful Touches.

I used the Tasteful Textile embossing folder and cut the Basic Gray frame using the Stitched Rectangles dies. The mat is Flirty Flamingo and the card base Basic Black.

The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Greetings and the die is from Tasteful Labels dies.
Finally, I added in three (retired) black rhinestones.

You can visit the As You See It Challenge site to see what the rest of the team have done and to link up your entry.

In Good Taste for Paper Players 507

The theme at The Paper Players this week was fitting as the theme of my classes this month has been masculine cards. Since I had a lot of stuff out on my desk for classes, I put some of it to use this afternoon.

I've used the In Good Taste suite and the Mountain Air bundle in classes, although in different cards. This card uses a bit of both as well as a sentiment from Seaside Notions.

I started with a strip-pieced background of the type recently re-popularised by Bruno Bertucci. It's a great way to use up scraps of DSP. The strips are pieced onto Gray Granite and the whole panel mounted onto a piece of dark wood DSP from In Good Taste. The base is Early Espresso.

I die cut two trees using the Majestic Mountain dies in Early Espresso and attached them to the front.  The sentiment is stamped in Early Espresso and the feather (from Tasteful Touches) in Gray Granite. The label is from the Tasteful Labels die set.

Some Linen Thread and some In Good Taste elements, coloured with a Gray Granite Stampin' Blend, complete the card.

Update: Delighted to be A Cut Above at The Paper Players.

In Good Taste for PP501

I do like a good sketch challenge and there's a great one this week at The Paper Players.

It's been a while since I got out the In Good Taste suite, which is a shame since it's a great suite. I've used the embossing folder, Tasteful Textile, such a lot but not for this card. Instead, it's the time of the beautiful photographic textures DSP, In Good Taste, to shine along with some of the eclectic stamped images from Tasteful Touches.

After stamping the flower onto the same DSP as the background, I've fussy cut it and raised it on dimensionals. The background foliage and and squares are from the same set.

The wooden In Good Taste elements add to the design in a quite lovely way, adding both colour and texture.

The sentiment is from Forever Fern, because I wanted a non-occasion specific 'hello' card, and is cut using one of the many useful label shapes from the Tasteful Labels die set. This set bundles with the Tasteful Touches stamp set, so if you like them, it's a good chance to save by getting the bundle.
