Forever Fern for As You See It 231 Design Team Card

This week at  As You See It, we're back to the start of our rotation of challenges, so it's Sketch Week.

When I saw this sketch, I saw it as a 'something' with a strip sentiment over it. I immediately thought of the large leaf die-cut from the Forever Flourishing dies. Of course, the Forever Greenery suite is my absolute favourite of the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue so it was in my thoughts!

I used the large Water Painter on Fluid100 Watercolour Paper then dripped spots of Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and Calypso Coral re-inkers and let them spread. After drying it off, I cut the leaves.

For the centre rectangle in the sketch, I used one of the panels from the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper and backed it with Very Vanilla. The card base and front is Cajun Craze and I've applied my new favourite embossing folder, Tasteful Textile.

The final touch was a bow made from the gold twine that is part of the Forever Greenery Trim Combo.

The sentiment was the first outing of the soon-to-be available Banners Pick A Punch, which easily lets you either fish-tail or arrow head a banner in three different widths. This will be available on 3 August.

We'd love to see how you see this sketch. Visit the As You See It site to see what the rest of the team have done and to enter your project.

Forever Fern for JAI 508

This week's challenge at Just Add Ink is to 'just add F'. Since my current fixation is the glorious Forever Fern bundle, part of the Forever Greenery suite, this seemed a great excuse for another play around with it!

I set myself the extra challenge of not using the dies that are part of the bundle. As an experiment in simple stamping it is, of course, a fail since I couldn't help myself and used dies for the edging and sentiment. I excuse myself though, since this card could easily be made by someone who did not own a die-cutting machine as the decorative edging and die-cut label for the sentiment could be missed out and replaced with straight cuts without destroying the overall effect.

The very pretty gold elements come from the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty paper, so no die-cut machine required there either. Another way that I stepped away from simple stamping was to use Stampin' Blends to colour the Pretty Peacock and Shaded Spruce leaves: Soft Sea Foam and touches of Shaded Spruce to add more depth. Again, this could be omitted if you don't own any.

Introducing the Forever Greenery Suite

One of the privileges of being part of the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team is to contribute a quarterly post for the Stampin' Up! Facebook page. For my second Corporate Post, I used the Forever Greenery Suite, one of the new suites from the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue that has just been released.

This suite was the first item on my wish list and I took the opportunity to pre-order it as soon as I could, then crossed my fingers that it would arrive in time for me to use if for this post. It was a near thing but once it arrived, I shut myself in my craft room for a whole day and gave it a test drive, spent a day tweaking and photographing and got it to Stampin' Up a day ahead of deadline. And I'm so glad because I love this set and am so happy to be able to share my 'test drive' with you.

I created three projects, each focussing on slightly different products from the suite.

Card 1 focuses on the gorgeous Forever Fern Distinktive Stamps and matching die cuts. You can also see the effects of using Stampin' Blends to add depth and shading to these stamps.

You can also see both ribbons in the Ribbon Combo pack: the vanilla and the gold trim. Stamparatus makes it easy to create sentiments in two colours. For this card, it's a mix of gold embossing and Pretty Peacock.

Card 2 makes the most of the Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty paper. This is one of several card-front gold die cuts lets you make a wow card really easily. The gold foliage in the cluster is from the same set of paper.

The vellum and green foliage are from the Forever Flourishing dies, part of the Forever Fern bundle.
You can also see the details of one of the Greenery embossing folders. Very pretty, I think!

Card 3 focuses on the Forever Greenery DSP and some of the other die cuts. That beautiful embossed panel shows off the second of the folders in the Greenery embossing folders set.

Although there are gold hoops that are part of the suite, I made this one out gold foil and the Layering Circle dies.

You can see my post for Stampin' Up! on the Corporate Facebook page here and read about all my tips and tricks for these projects.

Forever Fern Bundle for PP492

I've been delighting in my pre-order purchase of the Forever Greenery suite and when you open up the 2020-21 Catalogue, you'll know why. The Forever Fern bundle could well turn out to be my favourite ever bundle!

I've had an explore of the suite using the lush greens of the DSP, which I'll share with you another day, but today I'm sharing my play around with different colours. Here in New Zealand, autumn is slipping into winter. As I was driving home from town, I saw some trees still with their autumn coats on and the idea for this card was born.

For further inspiration, I used LeAnne's fabulous sketch at The Paper Players.

The card front panels from the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty paper make a statement all by themselves, but really shine out when backed in a darker colour.

Both the Greenery embossing folders are lovely but I really like the foliage look of this one. It adds a nice touch of detail in the background.

I used a baby wipe and re-inkers to dab colour onto some shimmery card stock to create the variegated foliage and the second one is cut Cherry Cobbler.

The final touch was a double bow using the gold twine from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo. I frayed the ends for a bit of extra drama. 😀

Update: Delighted to be chosen A Cut Above at The Paper Players.
