Ornate Garden for Paper Player 482

This week, it's Clean and Simple week at The Paper Players. Spring flowers is a great theme. Even though it's turning into autumn here, flowers are always welcome!

Although I like to experiment with inks, layers and backgrounds, at heart I'm a clean-and-simple girl when it comes to cards. My efforts with the fabulous Ornate Garden suite to date have been quite elaborate affairs, so I was happy to try it out today in a cleaner style.

I started with the single daisy stamp from Ornate Style and, using Stamparatus, mirror stamped it. Then I coloured both images using Stampin' Blends.

I added a simple thanks from Ornate Thanks and used a dark Rococo Rose Stampin' Blend to colour the empty spaces in the font.

 I could have kept things much simpler still by not using the pretty frame and omitting the touch of DSP in the back panel but when you have such pretty supplies on hand, you've just got to use them!

Cas(e) This Sketch

It looks as though this is a week for experiments: one yesterday and now one today. When I bought Altenew's Peony Bouquet, two things appealed to me: the multilayered stamping option and the option to use just the outline stamp for water colouring. I've done a few of the former but today is the first attempt at the latter. Inspiration came from the beautiful sketch at Cas(e) This Sketch.

So glad to have this stamp in my collection. Other than some stamps used, everything else is Stampin' Up.

It's a wet autumn day but after the long drought of summer, it's a pleasant relief. Being a long weekend as well, things are looking good. So today, I've combined two challenges: the soft, dreamy, spring colours from Pals Paper Arts and an interesting sketch from Freshly Made Sketches.

Because the colours in the challenge were so spring-like, naturally I started thinking flowers and got out a set I haven't used for a long time, Altenew's Painted Flowers. It's a tricky wee beast to use, with its three steps but it makes such a pretty image, it's worth persevering with. I masked a strip of the background and used Timeless Textures to create a soft band of colour for the flowers to sit on.
