CASE a Team Member for AWOW

Welcome to a new hop with the crew at Around the World on Wednesday. On the second Wednesday of each month, the team put together a thematic hop to give you some inspiration for your own crafting. We love it when you try out something new or CAS(E) one of our projects. The team is truly international, with members from each time zone of the world that Stampin' Up! operates. You're with me, in New Zealand - the first place in the Stampin' Up! world to change the date. 😀

This month, our inspiration is to CASE another team member: ie Copy And Selectively Edit.  I was fortunate to be paired up with the wonderful Leonie Stuart from Australia. We're team mates both here and at Colour INKspiration. I've long admired her work, so one of the great pleasures of this challenge was to scroll through her blog and Instagram to decide which of her lovely designs I'd use.

After much deliberation, I settled on this beauty which was made for a challenge for Colour INKspiration to farewell the retiring 2022-2024 In Colors.

Leonie and I agreed that we would surprise each other with our CASE by not sharing details before the reveal but would add in at least one thing, as you see here:

In a happy note, as we were planning how we'd do this CASE project we discovered that we both like playing Words With Friends online, so have started a run of games. 😀

Anyway, here is my interpretation of Leonie's card...

As you see, I kept very much to Leonie's layout but used the Simply Zinnia bundle. Instead of being a celebration of a retiring set of In Colors, I've made this a celebration of the new 2024-2026 In Colors instead. I kept the idea of using a die cut shape for the sentiment but stamped, rather than embossed, it.

Originally, I was going to use a strongly coloured background as Leonie had done but, in the end, kept to Basic White. Like the original, I kept the card base and card front the same colour. I omitted the bow but added In Color Shimmer Gems instead. My addition was to emboss the background. I used the Zinnia embossing folder.

Although the result is quite different to Leonie's original, I think the link between the two is still clear. If you're stuck for inspiration, why not find something in the catalogue, or online, to CASE?

Next up on the hop is Leonie Stuart. I can't wait to see what she's done with a past project of mine!

Cheerful Daisies for AWOW July

It's already time for another Inspiration Hop with Around the World on Wednesday. 😀

This month, our inspiration was to CASE another member of the team. But it wasn't as simple as just looking through the team and finding someone whose work I loved. Our team leader, Angie, likes to organise things to that the team get to know each other a little better along the way. She held a live draw where we were paired up with someone else on the team. Even then, that was not the end. The pairs were not to CASE each other but to talk together and find a third member of the team that neither of us had CASEd before, agree on one of their cards ... and then, agree on a colour we would both use. PHEW! A mission all on it's own - and I hadn't even crafted anything yet!

I was lucky enough to be drawn with the delightful Angie herself. Our first mission was to find a time we could zoom, given that the time difference between us meant there were only a few hours each day when we'd both be awake! But find one we did and we spent a pleasant hour chatting and working out who we might CASE. Several message threads later, we decided on the wonderful Cheryll Miller from Australia and a few more threads later, which of her many marvellous creations we would each CASE. 😀

Here's Cheryll's card that Angie and I have CASEd. Isn't it a beauty?

In my case, I preserved many of the elements of Cheryll's card: a square format, an embossed background with a matted horizontal panel, a mat around the main panel, a floral bouquet to the left side that breaks the strip, a sentiment stamped on the panel to the right and a mix of stamped images and raised elements.

I think the parentage is clear! The colour that Angie and I agree we would both use was Soft Sea Foam.

So while you're hopping, watch our for Angie's case of the Cheryll's original and of course, more magic from Cheryll herself.

Cheerful Daisies is a great bundle to have in your stash. If you live in New Zealand it's a great time to remind you that if you purchase this bundle from me as you'll receive the tutorial package put together by me and my friend, Joanne James (aka The Crafty Owl). If you live in the UK, the same applies if you buy from her. You'll not only get the tutorial package but access to a our private Facebook Group too. All the details are here.

Next up on the hop is Tatiana Tobin. I'm sure she will have some great CASE inspiration for you!
