The Paper Players 419 - Design Team Card

It's Clean and Simple week at The Paper Players this week which means there's not only a theme but a crafting style to think about. LeAnne's got us thinking of a sweet treat as our theme. Then think about using lots of white space, minimal layers and embellishments... aim for an uncluttered, clean look.

Cake is definitely a sweet treat! I've coloured the cake and stand, popped them on a funky striped background and added a strip of coordinating paper along the side. Simple and clean. I made this card last week before going to On Stage but if I'd just waited a little bit, I could have had a whole new cake set to play with....

I particularly like the Iridescent Ice icing on this cake.

Visit the rest of the Paper Players team to see what they've done , then join in with us!

Here's a quick reminder of our few rules.

As You See It 181 - Design Team Card

This week at As You See It Challenge, we have a theme for you.

My initial response was that I am obsessed with cardmaking but I feel something more specific was needed. My obsessions move rapidly from week to week. Last week, it was playing with A Big Thank You. This week, I've played around with using layers: layers of stamping, layers of paper and embellishments.

So here's what happened when I tried it out with the Blow Out the Candles bundle.

Pop over the As You See It page and see what the rest of the team have been obsessed with this week.
You can join us until Wednesday 8 August.

Pop over to The Paper Players is to see the inspiration not only from the current design team but also emeritus designers, Anne Marie Hile and Ann Schach.

So, how did I celebrate this challenge? Well, I used with the new Blow Out the Candles bundle from the Stampin' Up 2018 catalogue and combined it with an idea I'd been wanting to try. It was a semi-circle pop-up card made by Julie Davison. Her tutorial is here.

The picture shows the card from the outside and what it looks like when it's open.

The curved star confetti die is a great way to add a party feel really easily. I also like that the cake and balloons also have dies so you can easily build dimension into the design. The way the cake floats in the air adds some wow, I think.

We would love to have you join our party, so visit The Paper Players site to get your inspiration going. Remember you have two weeks to join in this time, so entries close on 13 July.
