Retro Rubber 117 - Design Team Card

The Anything Goes challenge at Retro Rubber seems to be everyone's favourite challenge, so make sure you join us this week. Since this is retro rubber, there is one proviso on the Anything Goes - you still need to use at least one stamp that's a year or more old and tell us its age.

One of the nice things about getting out my older stamps is the chance to match them up with some new products. Then it's like they're new again!

Beautiful Day first appeared in January 2018. It is a stamp set I have almost always used with Brusho (or our new Pigment Sprinkles TM) but of course, it looks well with Stampin' Blends as well. With a different colouring medium and in the bright colours of the 2018-2020 In-Colours(TM), it takes on a whole new feel.

I've used the brand spanking new Scripty embossing folder in the background and sponged in a bit of colour behind the rose to focus attention on it.

The sentiment is also from an older set, Itty Bitty Greetings which first appeared in the 2018-19 Annual Catalogue. This is one of my go-to sets: there's a sentiment for every occasion and a great variety of fonts. I thought that this would make a great anniversary card but could also work for a wedding card as well.

The rhinestones I coloured with the dark Mango Melody Stampin' Blend.

You can see what the rest of the design team have done, and enter the challenge, by visiting the Retro Rubber Challenge Blog.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a demonstrator, I'd love to be yours and help you with ideas and to supply you with Stampin' Up! products. You can message me by leaving a comment or going to my Facebook page, linked in the side bar of this blog. Or you can click on the SHOP NOW icon in the sidebar, or any of the pictures below, if you'd like to purchase any Stampin' Up! products.

I got inspiration for this card from the challenge at Fab Friday. You can still play along with them until August 15 (8 a.m. CST).

As You See It 198 - Design Team Card

I can't believe it's time for a new challenge at As You See It already! This week, we have a sketch for you to get your mojo flowing.

With Mother's Day coming up quickly, I went a bit OTT and used the gorgeous Lace Dynamic Impressions Embossing folder to give a lot of texture to the background. Then I used it again on the Mossy Meadow horizontal element.

I've always liked the Beautiful Day set but haven't used it for a while. It was a pleasure to use Stampin' Blends on it. With three different shades of red, the rose looked really three-dimensional before I started adding the layers over the top of it! Stamping, colouring and fussy cutting a few extra leaves really lifted it too.

At As You See It, we love to see how you interpret our challenges. You have until April 24 to join up with us. You can see what the rest of the team have done with this sketch by clicking here.

If you live anywhere in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I'd love to help you with ideas and Stampin' Up products. Please message me through my Facebook page, linked in the sidebar of this blog or leave a comment below.

And, of course, you can shop with me from anywhere in New Zealand by clicking any of the products pictured below or the SHOP NOW button in the sidebar of this blog or you can message me.

Freshly Made Sketches 327

I was in my room this afternoon playing around with Brusho because I was thinking about a class in using Brusho that I'm running next weekend. I played around with colouring the rose from Beautiful Day and tried layering it up. It turned out so prettily that I made it into a card for the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

When I was cutting back the second rose for the top layer, I took it one petal at a time to decide how it looked best. I added a gold faceted gem to the centre to tie in with the gold embossing more. The gold washi tape along the diagonal line is sadly retired.

If you live anywhere in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I'd love to help you with ideas and Stampin' Up products. Sale-a-bration is on and there's a new Special Occasion Catalogue out. Please message me through my Facebook page, linked in the sidebar of this blog or leave a comment below.
