Fab Friday plus TGIF Bonus

A few weeks ago, I watched a video by Jennifer McGuire showing her pop-up shadow box card. I was very keen to try it and the challenges at Fab Friday and TGIF gave me the perfect inspiration.

TGIF have a celebratory balloon challenge, while Fab Friday have a lovely summer colour challenge.

For balloons, it's hard to go past Balloon Celebration. The two sizes of balloon in the set help to give a sense of distance, with the smaller ones at the rear. I sponged clouds onto the back panel of the card with a cloud mask and Bermuda Bay ink. I used Stitched Rectangle dies to create the window.
The lovely 'Hooray' balloons come from Happy Birthday Gorgeous. They also work with the Balloon Bouquet punch.

There are balloons in three planes: the back wall of the card, on the frame and one attached to acetate in the middle ground. (That was the best little tip in Jennifer McGuire's tutorial.)

Best of all, this 3-D card folds flat to fit in an envelope.

UPDATE: Delighted to be the FAB FAVE at Fab Friday!

Retro Rubber 100 - Design Team Card

Welcome to the first ever blog hop for the Retro Rubber Challenge. We are changing things up a bit to celebrate our 100th challenge!

Here’s the scoop…play along with our celebration themed tic tac toe challenge.
Then hop around to all of the design team blogs and leave a comment.
Each team member is offering up some surprise retro (new but older than a year) goodies to one lucky person who leaves a comment on their blog.  That means there will be seven winners.
As always, we will be listing the five top picks with the winning pick receiving a prize, for this challenge only.
*You do not have to enter the challenge to win but you must leave a comment on the design team blogs in order to have a chance to win!

So, here's this week's 100th Challenge Tic Tac Toe. It's choc full of celebration goodness. Don't forget that even for our birthday, you need to use a stamp that's at least one year old and tell us how old that stamp is.

I went for the first vertical line: balloons - ink smooshing - glitter or sparkle.

I started off with Balloon Celebration, which first appeared in the 2016 Occasions catalogue. I stamped a couple of balloons on silver foil using StazOn, then cut one from silver glimmer paper to add that sparkle element. There's more glimmer paper in the die cut behind the sentiment and a few silver sequins to add to the shine.

Using Pacific Point and Balmy Blue, a craft mat and spritzer of water, I ink smooshed up a panel to put behind the balloons. I even broke out the Scattered Sequin embossing folder for a bit more party!

Help us celebrate 100 Challenges. Don't forget to leave a comment to be in to win a prize.

You might have come to me from the talented Maria Rodriguez.

Retro Rubber 90 - Design Team Card

Thank you everyone who entered into our Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge at Retro Rubber last week. I hope you enjoyed my challenge, as I have a couple more coming up between now and the end of the year! Jane's given us an inspiration challenge this week. Let the picture inspire you... the colours, the flags, the ice blocks, the berries, the planks ... whatever you see in the picture that gives you an idea.

Of course, since we are Retro Rubber Challenge, the only limitations are that you must use at least one rubber stamp that is at least one year old. You need to give us an indication of how old your retro stamps are and we ask you not to link up to more than a total of ten challenges.

Today I decided to CASE myself and remake this card from last July into a birthday card. Clearly, I was inspired by the colours! I used two older stamp sets. The main one is Balloon Celebration, which is still current but appeared first in the 2016 Occasions catalogue as did the now retired Number of Years.

I do like Balloon Celebration. The stamp that looks a bit like a shower head or a watering can is also like a mini-fireworks display, I think.

I tried out three new colours - Blueberry Bushell (new In Colour), Poppy Parade (new Bright) and Balmy Blue (new Subtle). Aren't they lovely?

Visit the rest of the design team here at Retro Rubber Challenge, then see where your inspiration takes you. You can join up with us until 13 July.
