The Paper Players 410 - Design Team Card

Welcome to this week's challenge at The Paper Players. Claire has a sports theme for us to play with. Of course, this is also Clean and Simple week so we have to keep the style in mind too: lots of white space, minimal layers, minimal embellishments and an uncluttered design.

I really like the Enjoy Life set which includes this great image of a cyclist. Here he is, cycling his way into a new day full of new adventures and new ideas.

I sponged the lower part of the panel with Grapefruit Grove and Pineapple Punch before stamping in the grass and the cyclist. I added a little strip of Grapefruit Grove DSP to one side and stamped the sentiment in sections and punched them out like little sign posts.

We'd love to see what you do with the sports theme and how your CAS creations turn out.
Why not see the rest of the team's creations over at The Paper Players then share your creation with us? Before you join up, here's a reminder of our few rules.

Colour Inkspiration 41

Regals are my favourite Stampin' Up family. Tough choice but I do love the rich and earthy tones of this family just a teeny smidgeon more than the other wonderful colour families. So I was happy to see the latest challenge at Colour Inkspiration.

Choose any three regals. What a choice! Blackberry Bliss is hands down favourite, so what to put with it? Garden Green narrowly won out over Shaded Spruce: if only Tranquil Tide was a regal! Then Rich Razzleberry came in as third so it could tone in with Blackberry Bliss in a floral cluster. There's a touch of silver added in to tie in the chicken wire element, since metallics are free.

Oh So Eclectic has been neglected of late, so she came out for a play with these great colours.

I do love the way that the stamp for the flower is shaded so it gives the illusion of depth to the bloom.
I think I'm going to love the new Chicken Wire element - it worked a treat here to ground the cluster, almost like a garden trellis. Another firm favourite of mine is the Subtle embossing folder, which I've used on the card panel.

Inkspire Me 367

I like it when I see a challenge and a vision of a card just pops into my head. That's what happened with this challenge at Inkspire Me.

Regular readers will know that I have had a bit of a love affair going on this week with Varied Vases.
So here's a sweet and simple one...

I think it shows off the colours well.

Retro Rubber Challenge 95 - Design Team Card

This week at Retro Rubber Challenge, we have an inspiration photo for you. You can pick any element you like from it: the theme, the colours, the textures, the books, the apples .... whatever gives you an idea.

Of course, since this is retro rubber, you do need to use at least one stamp that's older than a year and give us an approximate age of that stamp.

As a teacher-librarian, it was hard for me to go past this pile of books. I'm always giving people book vouchers as gifts, so I thought I'd make a gift card holder ready and waiting for the next time.

Just as it's hard for me to go past a pile of books, it's also hard for me bypass book stamps. This one is Bookworm by Darkroom Door. I'm not certain how old it is but I bought it on the Internet from Darkroom Door before I joined Stampin' Up so it has to be at least three, and maybe four,  years old.

The book pile and words are Darkroom Door but everything else is pure Stampin' Up.
I used my beloved, and sadly retired, Dictionary background stamp on the centre panel then sponged the edges with Crumb Cake. The background paper is from Wood Textures DSP stack. I thought this particular piece was an exact match for the table in the inspiration photo.

It is tricky to see in the photo but I painted the edges of the book pages with clear Wink of Stella which gave it a pretty sheen and also lightly smeared the ink to give the pages some colour.

The world map seemed an appropriate place to stage the photo for this one. I couldn't help but make sure that New Zealand got a look in. :-)
Alaska and Canada, where we had a fantastic holiday earlier this year, also got a peek in the photo.

If you're joining us at Retro Rubber, then don't forget that you must use at least one stamp older than a year, tell us how old it is and not join up to more than ten challenges in total. You have until 21 September to play along.

Note: SU Dictionary is retired. The books and words are by Darkroom Door.
