Tropical Leaf for Paper Players 709

Hello and thanks for joining me today for a new challenge at The Paper Players. As there are five Sundays this month, we have a Tic Tac Toe challenge for you as a bonus, put together by the lovely Claire. We enjoyed looking at the wonderful responses to Joanne's sketch challenge last week and look forward to what you do with this one.

I like a Tic Tac Toe challenge as it really helps me get the ideas flowing. I'm excited to see what everyone does with this array of choices.

I played across the top row: Leaves - Patterned Paper - Embossing.

I've gone for a simple, quick card today because we all need them both in our stash - and as a recipe in our tool box. 😀

I've used the Tropical Leaf bundle for this card, as using a punch is so easy and quick. Plus the gorgeous leaves always put me in mind of happy holidays spent on tropical islands like Fiji and Samoa and as  winter ends, we all need a reminder of warm places!

So, mindful of the Summer Splash card base, I punched out a two large leaves: one from each of two Summer Splash patterns in the In Color 6x6 DSP stack. For contrast, I also punched one from Petunia Pop.  Then I stamped in some veins with Tuxedo Black. Photopolymer stamps are see-through, so the lining up was easy,

So, that ticked off the leaf and patterned paper from the list. Next, I embossed the Basic White card front with the Dotted Circles 3D embossing folder. Isn't it a bit of fun, with the swirling circles?

The sentiment is from the stamp set, stamped in Tuxedo Black. I cut it out using one of the dies from Unbounded Love although really, I had lots of things in my room to choose from. I do like the little decorative stitched details and scalloped corners - interesting without being over fussy.

The finishing touch was to add some In Color Resin dots in Summer Splash and Petunia Pop.

We look forward to seeing what you do with Claire's Tic Tac Toe. You can see what the rest of the design team have done, and link up your entry, at The Paper Players page.

Tropical Leaf for AWOW September

It's already time for another Inspiration Hop with Around the World on Wednesday. On the second Wednesday of each month, the team put together a thematic hop to give you some inspiration for your own crafting. We love it when you try out something new or CAS(E) one of our projects. The team is truly international, with members from each time zone of the world that Stampin' Up! operates. You're with me, in New Zealand - the first place in the Stampin' Up! world to change the date. 😀

Our theme for this month is.... "Let's go for a walk." Tricky one, right? We were allowed to think about any kind of walk, anywhere and with anyone, literal or figurative. I kept coming back to a walk I took with my husband when we were enjoying warm escape from winter in Samoa just before the pandemic. It was a blistering hot day and we'd gone to visit a local swimming hole. Along the way, the vibrant colours of the trees and flowers really made an impression.

So I included some of those bright colours with the Tropical Leaf bundle. I stamped and cut some large and small leaves in various bright colours and stamped some directly onto the card front. I sponged a Daffodil Delight background to recreate some of the warmth of the island, and to remind me of the bright yellow flowers we saw too.

Since the finished  arrangement of leaves was so very bright, the sentiment from Cheerful Daisies seemed appropriate! 😀

I used Garden Green for the base and some of the leaves to help ground the bright colours. I feel warm and happy looking at this card because it reminds me of our walk and our holiday, before the world went crazy.

Next up on the hop is the fabulous Leonie Stuart who will surely have more stunning inspiration for you.

Tropical Leaf for Colour INKspiration 141

Welcome to the latest challenge at Colour INKspiration! I'm delighted to say that this time around, I chose the graphic for this challenge and our team leader, Lou, threw into the mix the addition of one of the retiring 2021-2023 In Colors: Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Polished Pink, Pale Papaya and Fresh Freesia. Although thankfully Fresh Freesia isn't leaving us completely: it's coming back as one of the Core Colours instead. For the purposes of this challenge, you can still use it.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. We welcome Yvonne Spikemanns Van-Bruggan as our Guest Designer for this challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest, for example Mint Macaron for Soft Sea Foam. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

I have been playing around with the Tropical Leaf set, one of the amazing things available as an On Line Exclusive. These products don't appear in any catalogue, only through a Demonstrator's On Line Store. They're well worth a look! You can look at the Tropical Leaf bundle here.

I chose Soft Succulent as my retiring colour. Just as well - the pad is almost dry, so this is probably the last thing I'll make with it. A shame, as it's such a great colour - especially paired with Evening Evergreen.

For this pair of cards, I used two different embossing folders: Cane Weave and Metal Plate.

I like using non-traditional colours for foliage, so the black leaves mix with the Soft Succulent ones. Because the leaf vein stamp is separate from the solid leaf stamp, it make it very easy to mix in new colours. I used Versamark ink and gave all the leaves gold veins.

The punch from the bundle is perfect for the large leaves but it's very easy to fussy cut the smaller leaves for variety.

We'd love to have you join in the challenge with us. Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!
