Peaceful Poppies for CI 70 Crew Card

Welcome to the Colour Inkspiration Birthday Celebration Blog Hop! It's been three years since this group started out, so we're celebrating with a big hop. We've invited past crew members to join in and each person chose their own favourite three colour combination to work with - as you can if you play along with us. To give everyone lots of time to join in, this challenge is open for a whole month. Entries close on 10 February.

So, what's your three colour combo going to be?

If you're like me, you'll find it hard to answer that question. When I looked back at past projects and the markers and inks that ran out first, I came up with this combination: Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry and Old Olive.

Since the choice of a green opened up the possibility of florals, I tried out the new Peaceful Poppies bundle. This bundle, from the new January-June Mini-catalogue is a must have, along with the companion bundle, Peaceful Moments.

I started by sponging an area of the card front with Crushed Curry, then used the splatter stamps from Peaceful Poppies to add in some splashes of Crushed Curry and Old Olive. Then I ran it through my die cut machine using the Subtle embossing folder.

The poppies are stamped in Rich Razzleberry, coloured using the distressed filler stamp then die cut.  The leaves are stamped in Old Olive and I used the same filler stamp for them. The single leaf is die cut but the stem of leaves is fussy cut.

The pretty lacy edge and the embossed-edge sentiment label are from the Painted Labels dies that bundle with Painted Poppies. The sentiment is from the coordinating Peaceful Moments stamp set.

Next on the hop is Cathy Pinchbeck.

I look forward to seeing what everyone does with their favourite colours. If you want to play along, we are a facebook challenge and you can find us at Colour Inkspiration.

  12. lots of gorgeous elements in your lovely card Jan, but I think the razzleberry diecuts under the sentiment banner work so well being full strength against the lighter shades in the sponging. Beautiful colour combo- the markers that ran out first is a good way to measure that. Clever
