Ranunculus Romance for AYSI 266

I hope everyone has had a wonderful, relaxing Christmas and New Year and is now ready to join in with us again at As You See It Challenge. The first item in our rotation of challenges is a sketch and we hope this inspires you to try out something new.

Making this Design Team card was really the first time I've had a chance to play around with the box of pre-order goodies from the January-June Mini Catalogue, which arrived a couple of days before Christmas  - great timing! đŸ˜€

The first things I tried out were the Ranunculus Romance bundle and the new Hive 3D Embossing Folder.

I'm very happy with both of these new products. The ranunculus die is fantastic! I cut the top layer from Polished Pink and sponged more colour into the centre. The base is cut from an ink-smooshed panel of Flirty Flamingo and Polished Pink. The foliage is also from the Ranunculus dies. Lovely leaves, aren't they?

The sentiment is from the Ranunculus Romance stamp set and the labels from Tasteful Labels. I've also added some of the old receipt stamp in Soft Succulent on the card base to add some interest.

We'd love to see what you do with this sketch, whether you break out new things or re-visit some old favourites.

You can check out what the rest of the team have done and link up your entry at the As You See It Challenge site.

If you live in New Zealand and don't have a Stampin' Up Demonstrator, I'd love to be yours. I can help you with ideas, get you catalogues and provide you with Stampin' Up products. Ranunculus Romance for Around the World on Wednesday

Welcome to the first Around the World on Wednesday hop for 2022. I'm delighted to be part of this international team that hops on the second Wednesday of every month with a theme to inspire you. We're 'around the world' because we have people from every country that Stampin' Up! operates in.

This time, our theme is 'Switch the Mini Switcharoo'. The January-June 2022 Mini Catalogue is our inspiration. Our mission was to choose a sample from the catalogue and then switch it up: make it using different sets, colours, or even techniques.

The catalogue is always a great source of inspiration - great layouts, interesting colour combinations and use of various techniques. If ever you're stuck for inspiration, it's always worth a look through for an idea.

I liked the layout of this card on page 22 which uses the Crane of Fortune bundle.

I used the layout to create this card with the Ranunculus Romance bundle.

I've switched out the stamped and die cut crane for a stamped and die cut ranunculus, coloured in Flirty Flamingo and Soft Succulent. I've used foliage from the Ranunculus dies.

Instead of the DSP background, I've used a plain white, embossed with the new Hive 3D Embossing Folder.

I've used some of the Simple Marbleous DSP, free with a purchase of $110 or more during Sale-a-bration to create the floating background for the flower.

I've switched the base and sentiment for another neutral, Basic Gray, and cut the sentiment with a Stitched Rectangle die.

Next up is the ever wonderful Leonie Stuart in Australia. I wonder what she's switched up for us?

Artfully Layered for CI 114

Happy New Year and welcome to the first challenge for 2022!

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. T

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

I know many of you are in winter, but in the Southern Hemisphere it's the height of summer so we've kicked off the year with a tropical colour palette for you. This photo was chosen by crew member, Lou Kitzelman and is of her local beach. How lucky is she?!

Of course, with the new January-June Mini Catalogue out, this was a great chance to try out one of my new acquisitions, the Artfully Layered bundle.

The stamped images and die cuts compliment each other so well and the set has a lovely selection of sentiments.

I started with a piece of shimmery white card and added Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana, Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green with blending brushes to form a base for the background. Then the fun began, adding in some stamped images: some Balmy Blue open leaves, some Coastal Cabana script and some small Granny Apple Green leaf clusters.

I cut a large frond in Granny Apple Green and two of the smaller leaves: one in Coastal Cabana and one in Sahara Sand. Then I used the centre of the Sahara Sand leaf to inlay into the Coastal Cabana skeleton. I like this effect, although the skeleton leaf is totally gorgeous on its own. I die cut some of the small leaves in Granny Apple Green (the die lets you cut several at once) and layered them over the similar stamped images.

My favourite of the sentiments, 'Happiest Birthday Wishes', fits perfectly into one of the Stitched Rectangle dies.

A Sahara Sand mat on the Pacific Point base completes the card, along with a Linen Thread bow.

The finishing touch was the addition of some of the new Faux Sea Glass shapes.

I really like this tropical creation and can't wait to see what you do with these colours.
