The Paper Players 422 - Design Team Card

It's The Paper Players' final challenge for 2018 this week and Joanne has a seasonal colour inspiration for us. Of course, if you've done all your Christmas cards you're welcome to use the colours for whatever they inspire you to do. Remember to use only the challenge colours although neutrals such as black, white and Kraft are allowed.

These colours threw me a little as left to my own devices, I always opt for earthier tones such as Cherry Cobbler, Merry Merlot and Garden Green. I did have a left over piece of DSP from the All is Bright pack with these sweet little Christmas lights in Real Red and Shaded Spruce. This became the starting point for this card and gold became my third colour.

With the lights in the background, my sentiment became 'Merry and bright' although the Merry Christmas to All bundle lets you choose just about anything! This versatile Christmas greeting set is on the retiring list, so if you want it - order it now.

Global Design Project 167

I feel as though I've been making Christmas cards for forever so it was with some relief that I decided to whip up some gift bags instead. They fit the theme at Global Design Project - for it is the season to be thinking packaging too.

For pure prettiness, it's hard to go past the gorgeous copper-accented Joyous Noel paper. The copper works so well with the earthy richness of Merry Merlot, Tranquil Tide and Gray Granite.

The bags are quick and easy to make using the Gift Bag Punch Board. The gold Library Clips are great for closure and the Everyday Label punch and Labels to Love set made adding a sentiment a breeze. The bags are a perfect size for some thank-you chocolates, a gift card or even jewellery.

You can use the label punch to create an impressive shield-like border to the label.

The Labels to Love set comes with a lovely border stamp so you can add in the sentiment of choice. A couple of sprigs from the Sprig punch, in copper glimmer glammed up the bag.

The stars, in copper glimmer paper, come from the retired Mini Treat Bag framelit set and they worked in well with the stars in the DSP.

Retro Rubber Challenge 101 - Design Team Card

Many thanks to all of you who followed our 100 Challenge Blog Hop and left comments. The prize list will be up soon. We enjoyed reading the comments and looking at the entries in our celebration Tic-Tac-Toe.

This week at Retro Rubber, we have a Christmas inspired photo inspiration for you to end the year with. Take any aspect of the picture and use it to inspire you. As always at Retro Rubber, you must use at least one stamp older than a year and give us an approximate age for it.

What inspired me from the picture was the glittery snow and the snowman. This led me to create a starry night sky, overlooking the snowman and his village.

There are two retro sets at play in this card. Hearts Come Home, from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue is the main player. However, in amongst the sponging and spritzing of the night sky there is also some stamping. I used Frosty White shimmer paint and Holly Jolly Greetings from the 2015 Holiday Catalogue to add in some stars too.

The Paper Players 421 - Design Team Card

Jaydee's theme challenge this week at The Paper Players is very timely indeed.

It certainly is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! In our family, the decorations go up on 1 December and that's what happened yesterday. Is it looking a lot like Christmas at your place too?

This year has been the year of the screen card for me. I saw one whilst sightseeing on Pinterest and I was captivated. I've made several and even included one in my Festive Fancy Folds class last weekend. Clearly, they're still on my mind as this is what turned out when I started playing around at my desk to make something for this challenge!

Peaceful Noel is still my favourite Christmas set from the current Holiday Catalogue. I love all those little foliage and berry stamps and the way they can be arranged and stamped. Plus the DSP is just glorious, with the copper accents.

One thing I really like about screen cards is the way they close up to fit inside a standard envelope, then open out like a small book.
