As You See It 178 - Design Team Card

This week at As You See It, it's theme week - FRESH.

For me, 'Fresh' describes this year's In Colours at Stampin' Up. These colours will be with us for the next two years and I'm excited by their vibrancy and freshness. To show off these fresh colours, I've made a set of matching note cards - one in each of the colours - and a turned a mini-pizza box into a gift box for them. Call Me Clover, Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick, Pineapple Punch and Blueberry Bushel - even the names are fresh and fruity.

I've once again enlisted my favourite set of the new offerings, Rooted in Nature, for these cards. The sweet little frame is from Swirly Frames, also new this year.

The coordinating dies, Nature's Roots, are also gorgeous and the leaf trinket is also part of the Nature's Poem suite of products.

At As You See It, we'd love to see how you see the FRESH theme. Pop over and have a look at what the rest of the Design Team have done then join in with us by Wednesday 27 June.

The Paper Players 397 - Design Team Card

This week at The Paper Players, Nance has a colour challenge for us. Isn't it inviting?

When I was browsing the new Annual Catalogue, I noticed a card where the background had been made using Stampin' Blends. I've always liked those striped backgrounds that look a bit wonky, which is why I'd bought the now-retired Brushstrokes background stamp. It had never occurred to me that I could make my own using the wide tip of a Stampin' Blend!

Oh So Eclectic is a great set because there's such a variety of leaves and flowers and ways to arrange the various elements. I've not really used these cross-hatched leaves much before but they're a fun element. I couldn't resist adding in a touch of the washi tape, even though it has now retired.

Pop over to The Paper Players and see what the rest of the team have done, then why not join us?

Retro Rubber Challenge 88 - Design Team Card

I'm looking forward to seeing what's in the gallery this week at Retro Rubber Challenge as Jane has given us an Anything Goes challenge and we always get lots of amazing entries on AG weeks.
Just remember though that this is RETRO RUBBER so it's anything goes as long as you use at least one stamp older than a year old and tell us how old it is. Our only other rule is not to enter ten or more challenges.

This challenge is so retro that I had to go into the stamp box that lives in the cupboard to find Hello, Lovely. It was a set I got very early on in my stamping hobby and to be honest, it didn't get a lot of ink. It first came out in the 2013-14 Annual Catalogue. It contains a lot of little small tile pattern stamps, one of which I've used here.

What I wanted to do with those tile stamps was to try out a new technique that I saw using the Stamparatus. It involved using the Stamparatus to accurately stamp in a circle. If you're interested, there are several video tutorials around but here's one by Dawn O. I'm pleased with how that worked out although I used a different sized template to the one in the video.

The other inspiration for this card came from the colour challenge at Fab Friday. This challenge closes on 7 June.

At Retro Rubber Challenge, we'd love to see what you create with your old stamps.
You can join in with us until June 15.

The Paper Players 396 - Design Team Card

LeAnne's sketch challenge last week at The Paper Players drew out some spectacular cards and it was a pleasure to comment on them ... and much harder to choose just one as a Cut Above. Let's see what you do with Joanne's animal theme challenge this week.

I'm not a great one for animal stamps but at On Stage in April, everyone who attended was given a set called Animal Outing. It features some great critters and some useful sentiment that make it very versatile. There's also a set of dies and some DSP that complete the suite. I chose to use the rhinoceros and his little friend to make a pair of baby cards. I don't make many baby cards but when I do either do a pair, like this, or a trio (male, female, neutral).

They're a simple design but I like the texture that comes from the background embossing and the fabulous Burlap background stamp which I stamped then used like a strip of DSP.

The thing I like the most about this card is the rhinoceros. I set myself a little challenge to do some watercolour pencil work and I'm pleased with how this pair turned out.

We'd love to see what animal you choose and what you do with it. Pop over to The Paper Players and see what the rest of the team have done, then join in with us with your own animal card.
