Welcome back to another monthly inspiration blog hop from the team at Around the World on Wednesday. We hop on the second Wednesday of each month with a theme that we hope will give you some inspiration. This month's theme is Layered Up!. We were free to interpret this however we liked.
We were challenged to fit as many layers onto a card as we could. But of course, being somewhat pragmatic, there was part of me that said just because I could add lots of layers, should I? In the end, you want a card that is useable and looks good. I hope you think I found the sweet spot on that... and there are more layers than you think. 😀
One of my favourite sets, Forever Fern, hadn't seen the light of day for a little while. Of course, it'a perfect set for a spot of layering.
I also like to keep the edge narrow on die cuts, so I shaved more off after I had die cut them and cut some more leaves free.
I've added depth through adding colour but also in how the various pieces are attached: some are stamped directly on the base, some die cut and glued on, some are dimensional-ed on, some are dimensional-ed on top of dimensionals.
1. Shaded Spruce card base
2. Mat of Gold Foil, embossed with Tasteful Textiles embossing folder
3. Basic White card front
4. Stamped images and gold embossing on the card front
5. Stamped and die cut images, coloured and shaped, and glued directly onto the card front
6. Stamped and die cut images, coloured and shaped, mounted onto dimensionals
7. Stamped and die cut images, coloured and shaped, mounted onto dimensionals over raised areas
8. Frayed ribbon under the sentiment
9. Sentiment
10. The sentiment has a partial gold emboss over some of the words - and I'm certain that counts as a layer too!
11. And would you count the Gilded Gem embellishment as another layer? 😉
Next up in the hop is the wonderful Leonie Stuart. Visit her and see how many layers she's managed to include.
