Clearly, it's a beautiful sketch and the design team examples are inspiring. While looking back over previous cards I've made I see that, without realising it, I seem to be drawn to designs that favour a left to right downward diagonal and I seem to always be looking for opportunities to place an image on more than one level. At least, looking back, that's what my favourite cards do! So, in this case, I went with the flow...
I started with stamping the little Perfect Plum butterflies from Butterfly Basics on the card base, then masked them while I stamped the leaves from Kinda Eclectic in Lost Lagoon over both card base and centre panel. The centre panel is matted onto Blackberry Bliss and raised on dimensionals. The focal butterfly's underlayer is punched from Blackberry Bliss and the top butterfly stamped in Blackberry Bliss using the butterfly from Kinda Eclectic. It is finished with a Lost Lagoon button and twine, then popped up on a dimensional.
The sentiment, in black, is from Wetlands.
As beautiful as this year's in-colours are, these two from last year are still hard to beat.
I love the strong diagonal direction of this design, too. Your card is beautiful! Thanks for joining us at CAS(E) This Sketch!
ReplyDeleteI would have never thought about this color combination, but it looks so good! Beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I love the colors and the button with twine bow on the butterfly!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful card Jan, and I too love the colour combination!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours and love the twine with the butterfly. Its funny looking back at old cards. I cringe with a lot of mine but we all had to start somewhere. This is gorgeous and I think your design is perfect!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is beautiful! Lovely take on the sketch!
