Blessings of Home for AYSI 281

How are your cooking skills this week? That's because it's RECIPE week at As You See It! Just take the five ingredients and see what you end up with, it's as easy as that!

And five fabulous ingredients they are, so we'll love to see what you do with them. Here's what I did.

Floral Stamp: Blessings of Home
Watercolouring: After inking the stamp up with Staz On on Fluid100 Watercolor paper, I used ink and water painters to colour the flowers and leaves.
Patterned Paper: under the die cut and the foliage dies are cut from DSP
Punch or dies: Flowers of Home dies (bundles with Blessings of Home) for the foliage and outline, Split Card Texture dies for the background.
Bright Colours: Melon Mambo, Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Parakeet Party, Granny Apple Green

I do love the new Split Card Texture dies as they instantly, and easily,  add pizzazz to any layout.

The finishing touch was to add in three Melon Mambo dots from the Glossy Dot Assortment.

The team would love to see what you can cook up. You can see what the rest of the team did with these ingredients and link up your own entry at the As You See It Challenge page.

Lights Aglow for FMS 548

It seems so early to be thinking about Christmas but when my latest Stampin' Up! order came, I couldn't help but pick up the Lights Aglow suite to play with. I turned for inspiration to the latest sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

This suite contains two bundles, Christmas Lights and  Brightest Glow, which can be purchased separately but I have used both in this card. I also used some of the gorgeous Lights Aglow Specialty DSP.

Very Vanilla, Black and Gold are a favourite combination of mine as I love the richness and contrast those three colours offer plus I always think how elegant they look together.

I gold-embossed the tree, from the Christmas Lights bundle, onto Basic Black and cut it with the outline die. Then, I took the outline die and the textured insert to cut another tree from some Brushed Metallic Cardstock.

The sentiment is from the companion bundle, Brightest Glow, as is the lovely circular die behind the trees. Anchoring it all together is the strip of gold and vanilla paper from the Lights Aglow Specialty DSP pack.

I then trimmed the trees with one of the tiny gold pearls from the Festive Pearls pack - tiny pearls in gold, silver, red and soft green.

I like this card so much, I'm going to try it out in other colours and with some other tree-style combinations.

Butterflies and Masks for CAS Colours and Sketches

Today was winter wet, cold and miserable. So what else to do, but spend a bit of time in the craft room? The clouds literally had a silver lining today.😀

First up, I checked out what was on offer at CAS Colours and Sketches as it's another favourite challenge site of mine. I remember playing in their 100th challenge, so it's great to see them still going strong.

I was pleased to see it was sketch week, since a sketch is just the thing to get me started when the creativity levels are down!

I layered two of the masks from the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks to create a focal panel. I used Fresh Freesia and Starry Sky.

Originally, I intended to use some flowers or foliage dies to put against the stencilled panel but the Brilliant Wings dies are just so gorgeous, I couldn't resist using butterflies after all. I cut one from Fresh Freesia and one from Starry Sky and layered them together.

The sentiments is stamped directly on to the background in Starry Sky. A few Iridescent Basic Rhinestones finished off the simple card.

Soft Seedlings for Colour Inkspiration 127

Welcome to an exciting new challenge at Colour INKspiration! This lovely spring palette has been chosen for us by crew member, Bronwyn Eastley.

If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group.

Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge. As we unusually had fewer than ten entries in #123, we do not have a Guest this challenge.

If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest, for example Crushed Curry for Daffodil Delight. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends.

Well, call me stubborn. To me, the colours (along with the graphic) shouted florals. So I got my stubborn on and decided that I could NOT use a floral set. Fortunately, a big brown SU box arrived on my door step containing the Soft Seedlings set. The distINKtive images really had me excited to play with them.

I love the Tailor Made tags set, so I started with one cut from Shimmery White card. I sponged it with the three challenge colours and then spritzed it with water to lift some of the colour in an interesting pattern. Simple technique: great result. 😀

I cut a second one from Orchid Oasis DSP.

I stamped the leaf and helicopter image in Pear Pizzazz on to the tag, and a second one on scrap. I fussy cut the leaf and sponged the edge with Pear Pizzazz and a blending brush.

I layered them up on a base embossed with the Leaf Fall 3D embossing folder. The leaf is popped up on dimensionals to give it some more oomph.

The tags are decorated with a generous three-layered bow in Crinkled Seam Binding.

The sentiment is stamped in Orchid Oasis and fussy cut. The final touch was three 2022-24 In Color Matte Dots.

You can see how I made it in this tutorial.

Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in!
