Summer Days at Ohope
This page is part of a set of photos commemorating our fabulous summer holiday at Ohope this year. I really like the laid-back beachy feel that the Kaisercraft Base coat gives. I also got to use my new Stampin' Up seashore set, which I really enjoyed doing as I've never used stamps in my scrapping before. Both the stamps and the "Lazy Summer" were raised on dimensionals. And the kitchen twine turned out to be just the right rustic finishing touch!

Another effort using the March kit from Crazy Monday Kits
The lettering is from my stash and is from Ruby Rocket. I used a Nellies die on the cuttlebug for the shapes at top right and bottom left.. The washi tape was great at helping create the cold feeling on the page.

Pirates of Penzance
The April kit from Crazy Monday Scrapbooking arrived and it was beautiful. It called me to finally do something with the photos from the year my son was in the school production of The Pirates of Penzance.

Stretching out
Over the summer holidays, I got to thinking that my scrapbooking was starting to get in a rut. So while lolling around at the beach I discovered a site that sold kits: Crazy Monday Scrapbooking. I thought it might be a way to force myself into trying new things. I'd looked over their previous kits and while it was sometimes stuff I wouldn't have bought, I liked it all.
I got my first kit in March and although excited by it, no picture in my pile spoke to me and asked to be put with it. Until recently. The family photos we took in the back yard before my son went back to university seemed the ones.
I'm really happy with it as it and the kit did exactly what I wanted - it made me look at the page differently. In fact, it took me a long time to do as it turned into one of those pages where I layed out things, moved them by millimetres, moved them back a day later and so on before anything got permanently attached.

March Sketch Challenge at Scrappin' Patch
While hunting around the Internet recently, I found this monthly challenge at Scrappin'Patch. As soon as|I saw it, a couple of photos from my 'to-do' pile just screamed out to be used in this layout. As photos sometimes do...
Here's my take on it. One of my children threw a costume party for her birthday this New Year's and the theme was to come dressed from the op-shop. Her sister, whose usual style is heavy goth, came as a hippie flower-child. Her brother took the opportunity to wear vintage 60s.
I especially like that the letters and ribbon were from a free give-away with Scrapbooking Memories that I never thought I would use, while the orange and swirly brown came from a specials bin.
I was very pleased that the distress inking around the photos made them more of a pair.
Really loving the Kaisercraft Basecoat range, newly added to my secret stash.
