Branching Out for Paper Players 765

Thanks for joining me for a new challenge at The Paper Players. Thanks to everyone who played along with Stef's CAS Christmas Challenge. There were some really clever and beautiful CAS creations. This week, Ann is our hostess and she has a sketch for us.

Unlike some people who start on their Christmas cards really early, I just can't quite get in the mood until at least late October and more likely, November. So I took the chance to get another one done with this sketch.

I started by cutting a pair of the labels, one from gold foil and the other from Modern Christmas DSP, using the dies from Branching Out. After layering them up, I cut them into 3 even pieces. These were attached to the card front which had been embossed with the Beautiful Pattern embossing folder.

This was attached to a Basic Black standard card base.

The sentiment is from the Traditional Labels stamp set and cut using Stylish Shapes.

The festive cluster is cut using the Branching Out dies in Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler and Gold Foil.

I finished off with a trio of Traditional Sparkling Sequins in red.

Where will Ann's sketch lead you?

  1. Jan, this is just gorgeous!!!! I love the black Fa La La panels and the way you used this fabulous die to cut them out. The gold frame is so pretty, too! Embossing always adds so much texture and the cluster of foliage is perfect. Such an elegant, classic card! I hope you have a wonderful week, My Friend!

  2. Oh, my word! Your card is exquisite, Jan! It is one of the loveliest cards I have ever seen! The Shaded Spruce, Cherry Cobbler and Gold Foil accents "pop" against the black and white. Of course, I love the embossed background. You knocked my challenge out of the park!!! Have a wonderful week!

  3. I'm with you, Jan--I don't want to think about Christmas cards until I've gotten to make a whole lot of fall cards first! Your card is lovely though, those gold touches make it so fancy and I love the die cut greenery and pine cones to set off the greeting. Great take on Ann's sketch!

  4. I love how you used the sketch, Jan! The black and gold together are so elegant, and the spray of berries, pine branches and pinecones looks fabulous anchoring the sentiment. I try not to wait until October to start my Christmas cards because it stresses me out too much!

  5. I love the black and white with touches of gold - so elegant and a great idea to use that frame for the split panels too! The addition of the festive red and green and the design of the DSP makes for a truly festive card!
